For future reference, the English term (derived from French) is commonly "bain-marie" or "double boiler". Butter melts at a mere 35 degrees Celsius at STP, and a double boiler can reach a maximum of 100 degrees Celsius. As long as you remove the butter before it rises to this high temperature, nothing will happen. On the other hand, if you leave it at this temperature, you might separate the solids from the liquid fat, creating clarified butter. On the other hand, you might cook it to the point of caramelizing it, also known as "brown butter". By the image, it seems you made clarified butter.

A double boiler is a safe way to melt butter, but it does need to be tended to. Remove the butter from the heat as soon as it has melted, if you don't want to change the flavour.

Standard Temperature and Pressure. It's not as fun, but it's jargon for zero degrees Celsius and one Bar or 100 kiloPascales.

Why would fucking a dead sheep be illegal?
I'm not saying it's not disgusting, but should the State actually punish people for essentially masturbating with the meat instead of eating it?
