Yep. Nicest steak I had in Japan was this Aberdeen Angus fillet in a red wine sauce with vegetables and fresh wasabi, was one of the nicest steaks I have ever had and was only 2400 yen compared to a 9800 yen for a 100g wagyu set meal.

Mine was prepared fine, I just found that it was more about texture and mouth feel than flavour. I prefer the gamier flavour and chewier texture of cheaper cuts.

Mine in the case looked like a block of marble but I found it still sufficiently beefy. I can understand where you're coming from if those are your parameters.
