Reasons to consume natto:

Natto has the highest count of Vitamin K in all foods by a huge margin.

Natto has Bacillus subtilis which is great addition to your gut bacteria.

There are many more reasons, look up this super food. That being said, I don't eat the beans but only the biofilm. What I do is dump an container of natto into a glass of water and give it a lively stir with my Betty Crocker whisk to wash the biofilm off the soy beans. When the water has become viscous I know that most of the biofilm has mixed into the water. I then drink the natto slime and discard the beans which are no longer clumping because the biofilm keeping them clumped has been washed off them.

I have to admit that I absolutely couldn't handle Natto the first time I tried it either. It smelled like fermented coffee to me. The texture was like seamen with soft cooked beans rolling around in my mouth. I didn't get it - I spat it out and said never again. 5 years later, I decide to give it another shot. I've had a lot of different foods since then, and discovered that I actually am ok with things that I wasn't before.

It turns out that Natto isn't that bad. I can't eat it alone - it's best with rice, but it's not as horrid as I thought it was the first time. The slime can still be a bit too much for me handle - a it just gives me mental images of trying to drink dick snot and gagging on it, but if you aren't bothered by such a thing (the japanese, I've heard, really ENJOY that texture.) and can get over the fermented "tang" that they have, they're not that terrible. Fermented foods are always off-putting to us but the health benefits of the gut bacteria they help us with, and the flavors can be learned to appreciate. (Sort of like the first time you had raw fish. It may have been heinous at first, but you slowly learn to appreciate the flavor and texture of each fish.)

Try to come back to it in a year and give Natto another shot. Your taste buds are said to change every 7 years, so maybe it's just gonna take some time?

Hello everyone I am a natto guru

At first natto is nasty, sure, but I recommend the power of the three. If you don't like it the first time, you will certainly like it the third time. My theory is that the natto bacteria infects you and you get a taste for it. I even crave it sometimes.

My main recommendation is to not use the mustard packet that comes with it at first. That is for when you're more well-seasoned (ha ha). A sprinkle of msg never made anything less palatable either.

I didn't like natto til I tried pic related. I don't know what's in the sauce but it is boss. (Prolly msg)

Basically, ganbatte kudasai and one day you too can be an enlightened natto eater. Fact: Japanese QT's will suck ur dick if u tell them u eat natto cause they want the nutrients in ur jizz. I have first hand experience.
