>Breakfast is big at his restaurants. But "the biggest business now is the salad," he says. "I think it's more that people like healthy stuff."

>Leo's is famous for its Greek salad and house-made Greek dressing, "but it's not just Greek salads. ... I have like 10 of them. I have all kinds of salads," says Stassinopoulos, 61.

>Besides the Greek and the top-selling chicken-Greek, there's the antipasto, Village, Caesar, Cobb, chef, turkey, taco, chicken finger, Michigan and spinach salads, and all have their fans.

>What's wrong with those darn teenagers? Why don't they love depression-era garbage filler meat tube sandwiches with vinegar-sugar condiments like I do?
Damn though, I actually love a good hotdog, way more than a burger. By "good" hot dog, I mean an actual nicely-seasoned lean sausage (not just cheap bulk grocery store wieners) in an appropriately-sized roll with mustard, ketchup, relish (sweet or dill), grilled onions, and sauerkraut.
It's not a meal by any means, hell it's barely even "food". But it's damn tasty, and if I just need to eat something to hold me until a proper meal, a hotdog is fucking awesome. I even love the taste of the shitty cheap ones, just because of the texture and flavor combination of the whole thing, despite the crap meat. My usual diner go-to is like the Luigi/Ken of diner combos: Deluxe Hotdog/Chili-dog with onion rings. (the Mario/Ryu of diner combos being burger/chili-burger with fries).

Millenials and zoomers overall have big problems with spending and money-sense. Their sense of value is all fucked, and they see no problem dropping hundreds of dollars on some kind of one-time-use item/service just for the "opportunity" to take part in the latest social media trend for that sweet e-validation. To them, it's worth it. They'll sneak their parents' credit cards just to get it. This attitude persists with them into young adulthood as we are now seeing, when we all thought it was just a phase they would mature out of. It turns out that it's following them into the rest of their lives.
This is a problem because they don't give a fuck that a salad only costs a restaurant under $3 to produce; they will gladly pay over $10 for a salad, for the opportunity to be "healthy" and "sustainable" and to show off their choices to social media in the hopes of further validation. Restaurants and grocery stores are businesses, they don't care about the well-being or happiness of the people, they care about the bottom line, and will gladly ramp up prices of basic shit like fresh produce just to milk the naive gentrification-hipster zoomers and fuck over everyone else.

That's market research doing its job. These markets see humans as a means of experimenting new ways to continue their dominance and control over humans. The next wave of generation will just be another experiment for them to test on. Kind of dark really, seeing people as mere cattle and lab rats rather than actual human beings.

I'm actually a typical boomer's work-ethic nightmare: If it's not a permanent job/career I will only work harder than the shittiest guy there just to stay on the payroll and off the chopping block. I don't even want to talk to anyone on the phone, let alone see anyone face-to-face. I do all my financial and work shit online whenever I can. As for a career, I did just-passing-grade-quality work all through school to get a career I can live off of, that affords me the most free time possible (~3 months paid vacation a year) just so I can do nothing when I want to.
The thing is - I'm barely in debt, and I'll have it paid off within a year or so, because I knew, like anyone rational enough, when it was time to stop spending money, even if my friends were begging me to do expensive shit with them. I know people my own age who are constantly deep in debt and can't control themselves either, but the rates of debt are being wholly observed to drastically escalate with recent generations compared to historical rates. Forget you and me, it's simply not good for them to be in such debt already at so young; they have never been more susceptible to aggressive commercial influences and media-driven lifestyles, even, at this point, being conditioned to disregard practical, conventional knowledge/wisdom/awareness (lumping even the useful advice together with the folk-knowledge shit as altogether "outdated") in favor of popular media-guided opinions/decisions.

What millennials do you know? Or do you mean the ones you see constantly on Facebook? Funny how you insult them so yet they're the only ones you pay attention to

Exactly. All this talk about millenials valuing their health and in reality, it's just that no one wants to eat a log-shaped loaf with the consistency of uncooked tofu.
Iconic foods like american cheese and hotdogs are literally not the same as 50 years ago.

The US has a massive problem with food labeling laws, where nostalgia was supposed to keep you buying hallmark foods even if they tasted nothing like the originals. Buying power is now, what -- a third of what it was back then? But nobody wanted to cross the holy $5 and $10 psychological thresholds, so shit ingredients it was.
The industry pushed things too far, and instead of adapting they brought the spin about "picky millenials".

"The Coney hot dog is not our biggest seller anymore. From years ago, the Coney is not that popular right now. Breakfast is big....but....the biggest business now is the salad. I think it's more that people like healthy stuff. but it's not just Greek salads. ... I have like 10 of them. I have all kinds of salads. Besides the Greek and the top-selling chicken-Greek, there's the antipasto, Village, Caesar, Cobb, chef, turkey, taco, chicken finger, Michigan and spinach salads, and all have their fans. Chicken-finger pita sandwiches are also "a pretty good item ... popular with the young generation"
