Here try this. It's my go to home made mcdonalds breakfast copycat.

what you'll need
>morning star sausage patties or one of those logs that you can shape into patties yourself
>any type of vegan cheddar cheese slices
>vegan english muffins (most should be vegan by default)
>Tofu
>kalam namak (indian black salt)
basically slice the tofu into steaks or a huge circle if you dont mind having odd shaped tofu later on. Press it dry and fry it as you normally would. Sprinkle the black salt (this stuff gives it an eggy taste, perfect for breakfast sandwiches)
flip it when you have a nice golden brown fry on it. then sprinkle a bit more salt (be careful because it's easy to go overboard and have it taste too salty) and place a slice of cheese. By the time the other half is fried the cheese should be melted.
If possible, fry the sausage patty in another pan or choose which one you want to fry first (tofu or sausage). toast the english muffin, assemble and bam, seriously just as good as a mcdonalds mcmuffin.

ENJOY!

Trust me the black salt is extremely powerful and it's one of those things were a little goes a long way. And plus, frying it gives it a bit extra flavor. I use the black salt on my tofu scrambles and it tastes like scrambled egg. It's very sulfuric and mimics the taste of egg yolks quite well.

Someone teach me how to make the perfect tofu scramble please. I've been vegan for roughly 4 years and have never tried to make it. Which tofu do I buy? Silken? Extra firm silken? Extra firm pressed?
What do you put on it, etc? Can I use the non-refrigerated tofu?

>> No.13167910

>>13167891
Use extra-firm, refrigerated tofu. Press it yourself. Don't press too much or it will dry out. That part takes practice. Use canola oil and bok choy in your recipe for best taste.

>> No.13167918

>>13167891
the basics of a tofu scramble are

>seasonings
black pepper
nutritional yeast
black salt
mustard

I usually make it with extra firm tofu, avoid silken it tastes weird and the texture is similar to a thick jello. I usually just cut a slab off the brick of tofu, and with a napkin wrap it around the slab and squeeze it over a sink. Don't take all the moisture out, leave a little bit. Then what I usually do is get the pan hot, put some oil, fry some onions, add some garlic (fry for a little bit, enough to release some of their flavors but not enough to where they're fully cooked, you want them to cook with the tofu)
then you throw the tofu in the pan and break it up into semi large chunks (as it cooks and you stir it around it will continue to break down, so don't break up the chunks too small) let it fry for a little bit then add the seasonings. Let it cook for a little bit longer and bam, it's done.

buy fresh (farmer's market if you can, whole vegetables at the supermarket otherwise) and eat them as a snack, even if you don't eat snacks right now. cutting up vegetables and storing them gives me something to do when I'd pretty much just be sitting on here and whining.
find vegetables you like, first of all. remember to steam your vegetables, boiling usually just makes them taste like hot ass.
if you don't shy away from fat/oils, frying vegetables as a side or part of a bowl can never go wrong. roasting is more timely but makes up for it by being generally tastier and lower on fats.
also, try to learn more Indian cuisine. indians tend to use a lot of vegetables (and poo) and their food doesn't taste bad either

> just how mashed cauliflower is
I've had it fresh a few times, it's definitely not mashed potato, but if I'm intentionally going for the healthier option, I like it. It definitely needs to be well drained, or it'll be soupy. Also, I'm not vegan, so I do add a fair amount of butter; I'm not sure if substituting an alternative would effect it any more than anything else.

I asked in the last thread, but it 404'd for no apparent reason. What's a good vegan recipe that a filthy carno might enjoy? I've got a couple nice vegetarian recipes up my sleeve, but I'm having trouble wrapping my head around how to break away from butter and cheese without losing flavor in meatless dishes. I sorta came up with an avocado oil fried portobella sandwich thing, but I really felt that it needed a slice of cheddar to round it out. Also, I don't do fake food, so tofu in a miso soup is totally acceptable, but not tofu as a meat substitute.

Thanks.

So, first off, I am not a vegan, at all, but I think I have a bit of a story to share. Maybe someone will find it interesting.

So today I have gotten an urge to it something... that was not whatever I had in the fringe. From my past experience I knew these cravings are always worthy of elucidation, and there is always something specific discovered at the end, that the body seems to need. So I start to think. Something oily, it seems, fried mushrooms? no. avocado? nnnnnnno. ... ..... sunflower seeds. Okay, have those, haven't touched them like a week but, befire that ate them regularly as food, instead of like porridges. Weird something in my organism would start to send me wake up calls already, but whatever, no biggie, guess I'll go stuff myself with sunflower seeds huh. EXCEPT THERE IS CLEARLY SOMETHING ELSE STILL MISSING. So I start think again. Pretty soon an association comes, like something you can crack with your teeth, like you would a fresh carrot - except not. No cabbage, no celery, fuck is it? (10 minutes later) FUCKING CHICKPEAS? Well, I mean if you soak them they sort of crack FUCK SOAKING I WANT THEM NOW, so I go buy cooked ones for like a gazillion times more than dry ones would cost me.
So I stuff myself with these cooked chickpeas and raw sunflower seeds, and I am like in heaven. So sorry to leave some of those DELICIOUS chickpeas for later so that not to cause indigestion. Still curious as to why the fuck would I need them.

So, here I am, like half an hour later, and I notice something in my lower body feels like really good. Like my prostate sending me a big wet sloppy "Thank you, bro", pardon my flowery language.

So, well, that was my story, hope someone will find it not a total waste of one's time.

I have an indoor hydroponic NFT system that I use to leafy greens and microgreens.

Every day I eat a salad with kale. Lettuce, arugula, choi, and some kind of microgreens (today it's kohlrabi), with sprouted lentils, chickeas, tomatoes, onions, celery, chia seeds, almonds, walnuts, oats, peppers, cooked mushrooms, blackbeans, balsamic vinegar, salsa, and a little bit of peanut butter, and mustard. I mix it all together in a giant salad bowl and eat it with a fork and a serving spoon.

Then for dessert I have some strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, apples, oranges, and melons.

I'm starting to see why people don't like vegans. Even when someone says "Hey, I'd like to give this a shot, here's a genuine chance to convince me this is a viable option", your pretentious reply is "Just start cooking vegan all the time, and eventually you'll find something tolerable." No.

I'm sorry that's what you got out of what I said. You don't have to cook vegan every day. Find a blog, look through the recipes till you find something that catches your eye and try it out. If it's not something you enjoy then try again some other time. I mean honestly you are asking a lot out of us when you could simply just experiment yourself and find out what you like. I'm sorry you're expecting more than you should here.

Have you tried indian cuisine? Falafel sandwiches? I mean seriously there's so much that it would be extremely time consuming to go through every dish for you, when you could discover them on your own in less time.

That was kind of my point.

In every other thread, people are all about sharing recipes and experiences with food. For Christ's sake, there's a half dozen threads on fast food and you'll inevitably find someone who's shouting about how to order off-menu shit like BLTs from McD's. All I wanted was to get a few good vegan recipes to try out. Either there aren't any, or no one wants to share any, and you're all just here to bitch about other peoples' choices without doing anything to change what you think is a serious problem. Thanks, Greta.

Make tomato sauce normally but add portabella mushrooms and rosemary/Italian seasoning. Olive oil in hot pan toast some garlic. Fry both sides of polenta until golden brown. Cook spinach and season with lemon juice, evoo, salt and pepper.

Not to mention you hurt the planet more for your overly farmed plant based products. Not to mention a lot of the substitutes you buy are so overly processed its horrible for. Before the "meh plants are healthy."
You lower you immune system ability to fight off sickness as well. Thats why you guys have to take a arsenal of vitamins to get to healthy balance. "Its so healthy!" then why do you have to do more to e on par with a normal omnivore human?
