Rules of meal prepping

>choose food that can last 5 days
If you don't know how to do that
>choose food that can be frozen, but also ready after a night in the fridge.

Easy meals

-salad with chicken and some ranch - only last a day or two but is easily made

-rice with veggies and whatever meat you want (can last 2 days but is easy made and can be frozen)

-pasta salad, can last two days

-fruit bowl, can last mutiply days in closed container and in fridge

-hummus with fresh veggies, can last long if veggies are stored in fridge in a glass of water

Well I wouldn't be prepping burritos for the next month where freezer burn would get at them. Plus if you kept them in a freezer bag they would be fine. It's more to keep them 'fresh' when you are thawing them out.

desu you'll probably just end up with a soggy burrito one way or the other, frozen foods that are mass produced have the benefits of vacuum seals which cut down on frost (even in a little baggy you can get some build up and freezer burn) as well as having carefully calibrated moisture contents for the recipe.
results may vary between brands, but the end goal of any frozen meal or snack is to be not only edible, but preferable over the next shitty frozen burrito

I always have extra burritos and I freeze them but I only use refried beans, cheese and shredded meat. They come out fine reheated in the microwave. i mean, depending on what you put into your burrito mix and how it's layered will make a big difference
if you have greasy meat it'll thaw grease into anything around it, especially the bread and dampen it
same goes with juicy things like tomatoes
good choices are things like onions and peppers, they keep most of their juices inside
chickens good for this too, and you can use beef but you may need to strain it or add a little binder, think hamburger instead of sloppy joes

Foil spoilage is no joke. I don't do leftovers past day 2, and anything with cooked rice? 1 day only. Bacillus cereus bacterium comes right in the dry rice, and it's nasty food poisoning.
Why not pack a tortilla and stuff it with frozen reheated filling at work?

>I kinda wish I knew how to make homemade frozen burritos.
Frozen tamales freeze excellently, and rewarm better. Vary the fillings, and salsas/hot sauce to hit them with, after heating.
Instead of a burrito, consider using corn tortillas rather than flour tortillas, and making a layered casserole of the items you'd want in a burrito. The enchilada and moist sauces will keep all tortillas hydrated on both sides. Slice like lasagna, and freeze squares for reheating. Pulled chicken, pork, black beans, cheese(s), sauce, lots of lime zest and cilantro. Coat each square with a dollop of sour cream before freezing.

On my more boring days for work lunches, I buy the Wrap Out flatbreads (100 cals, high fiber, etc). I spread them with either plain cream cheese and a slice of smoked or spicy lunch meat, and then add veggies, roll in wax paper or parchment, then tuck into a ziploc, or foil or whatever lunchbox. From my fridge, I have precleaned arugula or baby greens, shreds of bell peppers, baby cukes, jarred peppers or pickles, avocado, tomatoes, whatever. I like to vary it each day by changing up the cream cheese to onion or dill, adding that avocado yogurt dressing or the asian makoto ginger dressing to the veggies. Though it's nearly the same thing each day, it's utterly different Can be made the night before or veggies prepped the night before. The cream cheese is like a barrier for the bread, or can use sliced cheese the same. Turn your bread sideways to make a thicker/more filling, or keep it longways to feature more the cheese and meat. Slice in half and you can do 2 meals.

>What are some actually good meal prepping foods?
10/10 thread, hope you earned something.
Other than that, try /fit/ for these ideas if you aren't satisfied after this. They usually have meal prep threads more often than we do.
So without mentioning chicken, rice and broccoli any more than it is, give simple breakfast items a try. Eggs can actually stand to be reheated even 5 days later. You're looking for low-moisture foods really, whereas that moisture can breed bacteria much faster throughout the week if you haven't cook the food "properly" (or stored it properly...). But things like soups and chili stand with moisture in surplus just fine - don't ask me why this balance is the way it is.

i made some burritos with my foodbank haul the other day

-free stuff-
eight 12oz tubs of hummus
2lb bag of diced carrots
---mixed with 32oz of ranchero salsa
---28oz of diced white onion + a few more onions
about 16oz of tabouli and banana peppers in a few of the burritos
10 tortillas

stuff i bought/cooked and added
2 turned into 6?cups of spanish rice
1cup turned into 3?cups of lentils
2cups or so of hemp seed
20 more tortillas

it made like 30 burritos frozen in my freezer
i individually wrapped in parchment paper then trippled wrapped them in plastic shopping bags to reduce freezer burn. theyll all be eaten within 6weeks by me, roommates as well as guests.
>preheat toaster oven to full blast
>microwave for 3 minutes until fully cooked
>place in toaster over at toast setting for 3minutes to crisp up tortilla
pbr! potato, beans, and rice!
potato = carrots and onions
beans = hummus and lentils
rice = spanish rice and hemp seed

Having wilted lettuce in a burrito is totally legit. Its not in a fast food warmer its in your own food. After freezing and microwaving its just fine. No its not cool crisp iceberg but it adds to the dish not subtracts. The idea that iceberg has to be perfectly crisp all the time is a Zoomer meme.

No it will not be. Itll add texture and taste and moisture.
Yes frozen then thawed on a plate itll be terrible. Inside a burrito it will be actually good, kid.
