Can you fix a bad palate? My dad always made things really salty because I guess smoking fucked his taste and now people who try my food say I always make it so salty but I can just barely taste it

If you can't tell something is too salty, you're hopeless unless you totally cut out salt for a week or something

Eat something really bland, exclusively, for as long as you can take, preferably a month or so. Unseasoned potato or boiled chicken, that kind of thing. It'll reset during that, but you'll basically have to rediscover food, you won't like most of what you used to.

Doesn't have to be for a month and it doesn't have to be so extreme. Try a couple weeks of mostly unsalted food.

If you're just making food for yourself, who cares. If others are going to eat it then just don't put any salt in it, let your guests put their own salt on it.

You can fix a bad palate.
First thing you do is lower your tolerance to salt.
Use seasonings without salt for a few months, then switch back.

yes, use herbs instead of salt. I recently bought some spices on ebay and tthere even seem to be specal herb mixes for substituting salt.
