No, that's not how comedy works. You can't make a comedian out of a character and say, "Oh, that's the way comedians work." Comedy has to be self-aware and funny on the level of an impressionist, not for a second pretend they're some kind of weird, fucked-up creature. If they were, they'd be "art" instead of a hobby.

The only reason the word "art" is so important is that it's used to imply that the creator of a work should do something for the audience. This can mean anything from writing in it, to shooting an image, to singing it, to writing the story. It also means that your work isn't just good, it's great. If some people think it's bad, it's bad, or it doesn't stand the test of time, it's bad. If you do bad, you're "that guy".
