>simple tasks
See, this is what modern man actually believes.
These retards think that raising a crop of corn or forging a sword or building a log cabin is easy because it doesn't involve a computer.
They bought a 25-dollar "hunting bow" on Amazon and keep it in the garage, completely sure that if society collapses they'll just grab that and go shoot some deer. How hard can it be?
Truth is that even if they did manage to kill one, which is hilariously unlikely, they wouldn't know what to do with the carcass.

We, as a species, may have mastered those skills, but you, as an individual, would probably struggle with something as "simple" as making a fire.

Experiencing disdain for people takes up almost no time at all.
I'm not a "homesteader" but I enjoy hiking and camping and growing my own crops. And that's just it; I enjoy it.
It has also taught me to appreciate the skills of people who do all the other things. You don't have to be a blacksmith yourself to appreciate that it takes some knowledge and skill to do properly.

>i swear this is describing literally nobody.

Not that guy, but it actually describes a fair amount of people. I personally know about a dozen people who have some combination of firearm, body armor or plate carrier, med kit, shortwave radio, vacuum sealed seeds, MREs, emergency fire starters, or some other kind of ridiculous survival gear that they have never trained with. Even people in cities that have some car window/glass breaking device that they have never practiced with. Instead, the time to learn will be when you fly off of a bridge and start sinking into a river.

My brother and his gf have been complaining a bit about all the necessary compromises since moving in together, and it's a pretty nice place with two bedrooms and a study.

It's why I just have a bf I keep comfortably several miles away. Solitude is really nice.
