Le Creuset's target demographic spends money for money's sake. They don't like affordability or getting value for dollar, they simply feel uncomfortable buying things for cheap and feel better about a purchase when it is obscene - they feel they are getting the best of the best.
Don't forget there's also a sizeable market of people who build "show kitchens" which exist entirely to impress guests with expensive equipment... some even go as far as to build a smaller utility kitchen out of the way so the show kitchen isn't ever even cooked in.

A Lodge or a Henckels might be functionally just the same as a Le Creuset, but it is just plain not a Le Creuset.
