Why is it socially acceptable to pay $5 for a well drink at a dive bar, but not to drink from a flask for less than a tenth of the price per serving?

I do that or drink out of the bottle. I never go to bars but there are some good local breweries i like to visit.

A bar is an appropriate place to drink
The whole point of a hip flask is to sneak liquor into a place where it is not appropriate to drink.

Why have flasks been consigned to something for sneaking alcohol around like i'm some kind of smuggler? I wish they were just a normal vessel to drink alcohol out of that I could bust out without being seen as a degenerate.

I think a soda costs just as much as a beer at my usual places.
So I'd get a beer and give that a slug of vodka.
Or just sneak sips from the flash in the bathroom.
Or drink at home since I obviously shouldn't be in a bar if I'm worried about the cheapest way to get alcohol.

>>13012852
It's context dependent. Going to a dive bar at 11 AM is not considered very socially acceptable either. And on the other hand, taking a swig from a flask at night when you're sitting around with your buddies after a night BBQ or whatever is fairly well accepted. Although it's poor form to not offer the flask around in that case.
And that brings us to the real issue with flasks; they typically hold something like 120 ml. That's not enough, man.
A half liter water bottle is the true drinking man's choice.

We all know bars and restaurants sinfully price gouge for alcohol. Its every bit as bad as the Jews predatory lending and usury. Eternal damnation awaits them.
It is NOT socially acceptable to agree to these terms. If you enjoy alcohol, always bring your own. Its not like the shithole establishments you visit actually hand crafted it with artisan skill, they just uncap a fucking beer or pour from a bottle they wholesale bought from a distributor. SHAME on them!
And they wonder why I steal silverware, salt and pepper shakers, cream, sugar, butter, and condiments. Seriously, FUCK these places and their abusive human rights violations. Special place in hell awaits.

It's illegal to carry it with alcohol in it, but since you could be drinking water they can't search you until they have reasonable proof that a crime has been committed to confirm that it's alcohol and therefore you've also committed that crime.

That's why bums drink with the paper bag still on the container. If they can't see it, they're not allowed to do anything about it even though we all know what's going on.

Open container in cars is fucked though. Means if I get a wine I don't like for example but think my mom might, can't bring it to her without breaking the law. Can't imagine any officer would actually charge you for it unless you were drunk too but they could if they wanted.
