A lot of information traveled about from medieval scribes reading latin, so it wouldn't be a huge leap to conclude that it might have been passed on. Probably not on a common tavern menu (unless it's medieval Rome), but maybe in a lord's house.

I think an old school fantasy genre tavern should serve the bread on the side instead of sangewedge style.
Also, all meat must have a perfectly symmetrical bone it which is left bare on both sides to serve as handles.
If your meat does not meat this criterion it must be used in a stew.
