yes i have

in fact i made home fermented soda out of currants just a few weeks ago, real black ones

i also just made gooseberry soda out of those gooseberries which are way to spiky to eat

i have literally made soda from cabbage and honey, it was, interesting, not great, but compelling

will do again

Yes, we planted some and my dad ordered pure juice from Germany. Very strong but refreshing diluted and chilled

bragging about currants is like indians boasting about the ganges' industrial waste
it's shit, find something good to hold over them

Currants are straight up the greatest berry for jams ever made. It's not particularly great raw but by god currant jams are divine. Especially on buttered bread.
The leaves are also good in tea.
Do Americans not have them though? Is it something about the climate?

They were banned for a long time so amerilards never got the taste for them. You can buy black currant products but they're really obscure.
