My mom always made tons of rice (Western), so there typically was rice in the fridge which I'd reheat in the microwave. I never go sick from it as far as I know.

"How does reheated rice cause food poisoning?

if it smells sour, discard it
if you are not 100%, pick out a few grains and have a small nibble (it shouldnt taste sour)

the greatest danger is warm cooked rice (not held in a rice cooker) sitting out on the counter for hours
