Beyond that, it's an unappealing mess. It looks incredibly thin; it's like 2 layers thick, 1 sheet in the middle.
Their isn't nearly enough cheese on the top, it needs to cover the entire dish. Genuinely, if you omitted the top layer of cheese entirely, it'd have looked much better.

Again, if it tastes good then it tastes good. If you intend to serve it to others, research and practice more.

Alright, fair enough. I always make mine with lager of pasta then white sauce, then grated cheese, then meat sauce, then pasta, white sauce, etc. Last layer I do white sauce then a shitload of cheese before putting in oven to bake. But that’s just my way. Yours looks great anyway. I rate it a 10/10 would mouth rape.

Yes. In fact, I make it so well that when I lived in the north end in Boston, local Italian-Americans I made it for were flabbergasted I wasn’t Italian.

I’ve seen all kinds of variations for it, including even making a vegetarian form of it, or most friends making it with just layers of pasta and meat sauce and not even cheese. Not everyone likes the bechemal sauce or cheese. OP’s looks pretty good to me. Only thing missing is the garlic bread.
