I spent six months in ukraine. Due to the exchange rate and implosion of their economy due to civil war, I was in a completely different wealth bracket. I ate better there than I ever have in my life. Eastern European food is delicious. The rich really live it up. Their deserts are in general very good as well. Their peasant food is ok. They make an average of 300 USD a month there. They eat a pretty boring diet. Lots of buckwheat and soup. Canned shit. Really sad situation in general.

It’s usually servet without the egg and also there’s no sausage in it. Only potatoes (can be even pearl barley), sometimes mushrooms or smoked pork meat. Podrawiam z Czech!

The trick is you have to use a lot of wild mushrooms (fresh and dried) and shitload of butter and quickly bake it on high temperature to make it crispy and caramelized on top.

Pig slaughtering feast (Event and food as well). Different types pf “sausages”. They are more like black pudding (with or without blood). Good with vinegar, mustard and raw onions.

Yeah, it looks like boerenkool with rookworst in the back, but deliberately presented in the worst way possible.
