I drink beer because I like the taste, and haven't worried about trying to look cool/socialize since I was a teenager.
If I'm at the lake all day, or doing yard work I'll grab an ice cold domestic. It's mostly water anyway, but it quenches my thirst.
I enjoy a better tasting beer with lots of different foods. While I avoid the really hoppy IPAs, I do enjoy pilsners, lagers, and especially German beers.
I mainly drink bourbon, but beer with food or a couple in the afternoon or at the tavern is great as well. People say beer is an acquired taste, so it makes sense that an underdeveloped and feminine numale would not enjoy it. That's ok OP, I'm sure there is plenty of drinks marketed to females that wouldn't offend your sensitive little taste buds.

American craft beer is by far the best beer the world has to offer, most Europeans are still at best vaguely aware of the concept of high quality beer of a variety of styles made locally with an edge for experimentation. The American craft beer drinker mentality of trying new things all the time and seeking out new and interesting things from where ever they can find them is pretty much completely foreign. lol seriously? For one Canada is more flyover than flyover itself, two, trying to apply flyover in a beer discussion is rather absurd as much of the country's best beer is from flyover especially if you like stuff beyond only IPA, and three Canada's alcohol laws are completely fucked which has wildly stunted their craft beer industry, which definitely exists and is stronger than in Europe but is much smaller and less developed than you find in the US, most any northern or western state is beyond the entirety of Canada when it comes to beer

Stop acting like English people were drinking IPA before Americans revived the style and evolved it, this just isn't true. It was an extremely obscure historical style, the few remaining beers calling themselves IPA were to historical IPA what Bud Light is to a Pilsner, corporate watery trash

People were like "this old style I read about sounds interesting lets try and make it", then people just kept making it better and better as people because willing to pay for more and better hops if it meant better beer Of course the original IPA recipes were not designed for optimal fresh flavor, they were designed for shelf life alone, but were just too expensive due to the extra hops to justify sale at home. But modern Americans realized extra hops actually taste really good, particularly when the beer is fresh, couple this with advanced hop breeding programs that made new hops considerably better than any available in Europe traditionally (a process that is continuing in the US/Australia and NZ). Even if Americans took a couple missteps like West Coast IPAs along the way, IPA continues to evolve and is far better than ever before today

Let me guess, Greene King, the list goes on...

Either the history matters, in which case the ABV of different IPAs always varied wildly but followed the final gravity trends of the time, or only contemporary context matters in which case the style of mass market (not the entire market) of British IPAs of the 70s were legitimate IPAs. What of session IPAs? I suppose it's fine if an American does it. I think I've made my point. You're oscillating wildly in order to maintain the only consistent part of your story which is to cling to a yarn that's been moulded and compressed to fit the back of a beer bottle, then parroted by rubbish beer writers who can't be fucked putting in any research.

At some point you might want to elevate yourself from using beer as a proxy for nationalistic and regionalistic dick waving in which case I'd recommend Stan Heironymus as a US writer who does a lot of primary research. For me if the first beer I tried was an English Bitter or a Czech Pilsner or an Amber Ale, then you're probably not going to enjoy the taste and it's going to put you off. If you ease in with the more flavourful styles of beer such as chocolatey stouts, fruity Belgian Witbier, banana-rich German Wheat Beer which have flavours you enjoy and are used to then this will help you develop a taste for beer. Then you can move onto stuff like NEIPA's, Lambic's and Grisette's and really appreciate them.

Beer is an acquired taste. Just like coffee. Just like teas and certain juices. You begin by experimenting and learning what you do and definitely don't like and remember names and brands and just kinda go down the rabbit hole until you land on something you like and fits your budget/lifestyle. I don't know how it's in the states, but in Germany, there is beer for anyone.

Beer that tastes stale, light, sweet. I think anyone can find a beer that fits him or her.
