I currently work at a made-to-order independently owned burger joint in a tourist town in the Appalachians. I actually really enjoy my job. I get to make top-notch smash burgers all day and people come up to compliment our food all the time. I’ve been told by several strangers that I just made them the best burger they have ever eaten. Pay ain’t great but I do walk home with cash tips every shift. Sometimes it’s hard and frustrating and lots of customers are assholes, but the few nice folks who really enjoy the food and tip well make it all worth it. I want to be promoted to shift lead in a month or so, which is looking good. I’ll probably start looking for a job as a line cook and a more refined restaurant after that but it’s definitely been a great first job in the industry.

I did a stint at hooters for a bit when I was in between jobs. Friend put in a good word for me and I had pretty big tits (for normie standards).

It wasn't terrible; staff was cool, tips were pretty good, clientele were... Bareable, and I got some nice eye candy for myself. Would I do it again? Maybe for a bit but I'd hate for it to be my career. Besides, I got fat on purpose and I doubt they'd want someone who isn't a twig even though my tits are bigger.

Started in restaurants as a dish dog when I was 15 and my dad told me to get a job. Worked my way up through all the variations of line cooked, bailed on it before getting trapped in management. Glad I did it, I don't have to eat garbage as an adult, and teh wimminz dig it when you can put a good meal on the table, but wouldn't go back. Fuck that, too little pay, too much stress, too easily replaceable. Cooking is a job for teenagers and alcoholic burnouts.

Glad you decided to pursue your career as a professional online LARPer.

I worked at a few places between high school and college just for side money. My favorite was chipotle. Everybody got high. I was 19 and would smoke before, during and after work with coworkers and supervisors. I now have a masters and a big boy job but am kind of nostalgic and want to pick up a once weekly shift as a server or bartender, but then what the fuck did I go to school for?

Decade in the industry here.
I've worked every single position except as head chef, but right now I have a great opportunity to get there in less than two years.
I started at a Pizza Hut ten years ago, but have mostly done serving in full-service restaurants, as well as bartending and management and picking up host/buss/dish shifts as needed.
Now I'm on the line cooking in fine dining.

I'd do it again for the same reason I chose to do it in the first place: I love restaurants and I love food.

The job itself wasn't so bad. Free food, great drugs and booze. Just hated when the chef would pass out and I had to cover for him.
No I wouldn't do it again. The owner or manager would always wind up getting blown by a waitress who suddenly becomes floor manager and gives me grief because I'm (apparently) the only guy working there who doesn't treat her like a princess while trying to stick my tongue up her ass. Working as a dishwasher fucking sucked though, everybody thinks you're a loser and it is impossible to advance to a higher position because being a dishwasher is a red flag that you're a hapless dimwit with no hopes of being trained.

Worked in pizza and as a busser. It's ok. Being a delivery driver is alright to do for a bit so you don't drive your car into the ground. very easy to find WEEED. Lot of shitty people, though some qts. Normally people are better workers than in normal resturaunts.
Bussing is alright. Don't have to talk to anyone, end up doing double the work of servers and make half the money. Lots of drugs. Easy to get laid if you're not autistic. Everyone is lazy and tries to avoid doing any work that isn't absolutely essential to them, and then tries to clock out before anyone notices all of the shit they didn't do. Also has a lot of shitty people/drug addicts.

Yes. Twice. I worked at a country club on the weekends and cooked and prepared a number of things. The work was steady and I never got bitched at much so it was a pretty decent gig. The rich assholes ate it up even though I was an inexperienced 17 year old. I also got paid mostly in alcohol.
I also opened a small seasonal joint next to a lake and made some decent money. I mainly served made-to-order fast food and such. It was pretty intense because during the summer time the lake traffic would overwhelm my ice maker and I’d sometimes close early because most of the food was gone. I enjoyed it the two years I ran it but I sold it off to an out of town guy that turned it into a family place that went under in a year. Kek.

>Would you do it again?
I would open another restaurant if I had a good location. I don’t so probably not.

I worked as barista at a college, it was a pretty okay job but paid barely above minimum wage. I mainly stayed since it was convenient and the boss was cool letting me take days off whenever if I wanted to go on my camping trips.

I remember one time this stuck up girl was bitching at me for not having coffee ready yet (we were a small store, had like two coffee machines and one was dedicated to decaf, so whenever we had to replace the coffee every 30-45 mins, it took like 5 minutes to get fresh coffee) and a professor called her out and yelled at her for a good few minutes. It was pretty great.

On the opposite end, there was this guy that specifically asked if it was about time to replace the coffee and he would happily wait a few minutes to get a fresh cup. If the job paid more I would have gladly stayed in all honesty.

My first job was as a weekend dishwasher at a mexican restaurant owned by an italian in a midwest suburb when I lied about my age since I was only 15 and 16 was the minimum age when you could work. It was balls to the walls busting ass. At that time I was still an antisocial nerd and no one offered friendship or drugs. Did it for @ 1 year and when I quit, the owner was like, how much extra pay do you want to stay on because I could keep up and a lot of people could not. In college worked weekends at pizza hut in a midwest suburb back when they were a major dine in destination. That too was brutal. People would be lined up waiting to be seated. I'd become more social at that point so I was bangin' a waitress who used to keep a pitcher of beer for me in the walk in when the manager left and the entire crew smoked weed. They were fun while young, but that scene would get old real quick. When the rush is on it's insanity.

done fast food, casual dining, speciality coffee, high volume coffee, pubs, fine dining, everything
currently venue manager for a burger & craft beer joint, it’s pretty cool but it’s small and kinda out in the sticks, I want a bigger and flashier joint for my next job
>what did you think
look I love it, I love creating nice experiences for people. that said it’s EXTREMELY variable whether each job is gonna be good or not. sometimes the people you work for/with are just complete tools and make your life miserable. sometimes the people are great but the venue itself is awful and sucks your soul out bit by bit. when you get a good team and a venue with a good heart it’s like music. oh, and waitresses are usually pretty hot so that’s a perk.
>would you do it again
I’m a lifer at this point, there’s no hope for me. maybe one day I’ll make it enough that I can take a cushy area management/operations job and sit in an office handing down my decrees from on high, or maybe slide into a sales rep job for a distributor or a winery or something. I figure I can do another ten years before I get too old to be doing doubles on the floor, so by then I’ll need to either be in an office role or in a different career. I’m happy where I am for now though.
