The only problem with cast iron is that it's such a special snowflake utility. It needs its own care routine and it's generally way too much maintenance.

didn't say fire was bad.
but electric stoves don't explode and don't have gas leaks. electric stoves don't affect your bill by much, whereas gas bills tend to be quite high even if barely used.
electric stoves are just overall more suited for average people and not restaurants.

I love my cast iron pans. They work great on the grill, or in the house on the stovetop. Some of them were total rustbuckets when I got them used, and all it took was a bit of oil and some love, and they are the best most evenly cooking pans ever. My wife thinks it is some kind of magic...she never used anything without teflon before, but she is learning.

IT STICKS

>> No.12886854

Gas stoves don't explode when they are properly working. Some have a pilot light, and others do not. Gas bills in our area are cheap as fuck, and you can keep windows open in the winter, and still have a sub-$100 bill. Sucks that it sounds like you live in a ghetto that only has antique and broken stoves and expensive fuel prices.

You did something wrong (too hot), or the instructions are wrong. My pans works great at the 2-1/2 heat setting on my stove (out of 6). they are thick metal, and once they get hot, they stay hot. They won't cook like some thin ass teflon coated shit. Put that sucker on your grill and plan on ruining some bacon. Cover the pan with bacon, and cook it as best you can. Clean it out while it is hot, and put in some crisco veggie shortening, and let it cool. After that wipe it out with a dry rag.
