if you're that much of an alcoholic why don't you just buy the ones that already come in plastic bottles
not only does it already look like a bottle of dasani water, it'll also not break it when you inevitably drop it when you panic and try to run from cops who haven't even noticed

whatever you decide to mix it with, include a healthy pour of lemon or lime juice. That is THE. WAY. to mask the alcoholiness of alcohol.

Picture a pint glass mostly full of ice, lemonjuice and liquor at a 1:1 ratio, stir that all to get some of the ice dissolving, and pretty soon you may only need a splash-and-a-half of soda or other sweet softdrink to cut the sour. You can drink damn near the foulest liquor ever existed this way.

ffs you fucking armature stfu you have no place giving advice like you know what you're talking about. Go back and put in the time until you have more hours drunk then sober, like me... i started at 11 and im 28 now. The trick to longevity is to also do drugs, weed makes the drink stronger, opioids help with the hangovers and a bump of coke for...fun. But most important to not ruin the lives of your family and friends you just got to ruin the lives of strangers instead, just as fun and less fallout

Oh, fuck off. I'm not the guy you're replying to.

You can be an alcoholic at 16. There's no minimal amount of time. If he's already Accepted that he's an alcoholic, he is. If it's evident that it's harming his personal and professional relationships and he can't control his drinking, then he's a damn alcoholic. Fuck off with that.

BTW, I'm 34. From 18-25 I was a raging drug addict. I was heavily addicted to opioids and benzos, and I'd also do psychedelics literally 3-4 times a week (and of course smoke weed all day every day). Then I spent the years 26-32 stoned 24/7 on dabs, with sporadic minor relapses. So I'm not coming from ignorance either.

>>12881157
How're you doing with that? I personally never spent much time at NA/AA myself -- I got sober without it. However, I really wish I had. Go to a meeting if you're hurting.

Buy a bottle of Mio or whatever brand you choose of flavor-concentrate-in-a-squeezy-bottle. Drink three or so shots of vodka. Dump the whole containers worth of Mio into the rest. Makes it pretty good even for cheaper booze. I'd say use two if you're drinking rotgut. Worst I've had is Sky and Absolut, one works for Sky. Never trying Absolut trash again.

Please don't, it is horrible, after only 4 years my stomach works about 4 times as slow as usual because alcohol affect the stomach lining. When food stays in the stomach long your liver gets a continuous signal to make gall/bile, this not only goes back into the stomach, resulting in pain/ulcers and having to puke it out because your stomach isn't accustomed to to much bile/gall. Now bile is about a 100x times worse than stomach acid. The rest of the bile that doesn't end up in your stomach goes into your intestines were you will eventually shit it out and it will feel like lava, a.k.a. "whisky shits". Not even mentioning the cognitive effects of alcohol abuse and the liver pain, PLEASE DON"T ABUSE ALCOHOL, IT WILL DESTROY YOU AND IT WON'T BE PRETTY. NOTHING GOOD WILL COME OF IT.

Your life is still controlled by a substance. That's nothing to brag about.

I'm the guy who was a raging drug addict most of his life. Sure, I was """functional,""" in that I graduated from an elite university, went to a great grad school, got a good job, and rose to prominence in my field. Yet I was on drugs the whole time. Even though I held down a job and did great at it, I was utterly miserable and almost jumped off a bridge many nights. I also probably could have done better without drugs, and I deeply regret the way I acted and treated certain people.

Saying it's okay because you're functional is just Denial. In fact, the belief that you're functional is worse than believing you're NOT, because you're less inclined to get help.

AA puts me off - I'm not religious and I don't like the idea of saying "I'm out of control of my actions so I need to accept it's a higher power that I need to follow," in my opinion it's from my inability to deal with mental trauma from growing up in an abusive household coupled with treatment resistant depression that I've had since 6 or 7. I choose to give in rather than train myself to have the willpower to not drink. I've hit about a week or so sober today. I'm really really trying to stay sober but it's difficult. My longest stretch is only a month. I'm considering looking at the schedule for local AA meetings and attending one this weekend just to see if it might help.
Proud of you for staying sober for so long anon. It's harder than a lot of people realize

functional alcoholism is a meme. I was "functional" up to a point. I used to be able to drink starting in the morning, stay more than just buzzed throughout the day without people knowing, and then get hammered in the evening. Slowly, I'd start to push it to hammered by afternoon and start losing functionality etc. I pulled it off for years just fine, but I've noticed in other "functional" alcoholics that I know, the tendency is to try to push the drinking further and further like I did
