Yeah, ok I get that. In European countries it's a day when the left-of-centre political parties get out in the streets and flex while the right-of-centre stay at home and publish bullshit op-eds about how in reality nothing was ever achieved by a leftie. It's very politically charged.

Happy Birthday America

>> No.12861944

Our town throws a big party, lots of bands, lots of food, lots of booze. A good time for all involved. My buddy came out with his kids, cute little brats. I can't eat another crabcake sandwich. It's the end of summer, and yeah the origins might have been born of union issues, steel worker riots, textile factory fires, shit working conditions, etc. but we got a holiday. Their lives were not in vain.

Put together a pellet smoker on Saturday.
Smoking 3 racks of spare ribs, 1 rack of baby back; 1 picnic that I'll be turning into pulled pork and tossing in a sauce; ~4 half chickens dark; and a decent amount of italian sausage.
Friends are bringing over brats, veggies, and more.
I figure I'll throw some burgers, peppers, onions, and some of the sausages on the grill.

Sadly no brisket this time, couldn't find anything decent, nor anything with a decent price.

Shop around. There is a huge difference in the taste of the meat as well. I also like just buying a brisket flat for around $10, leaves more room on the grill for other meats.

I don't have a grill, but I roasted some homegrown tomatoes and half a pork tenderloin in a cast iron roastingpot I just got from my late grandfather's estate.
Baked potato and onion wrapped in tinfoil and thrown in the oven but afterwards blackened in the pot as well.
