I don't think I'll be able to eat until tomorrow. So, what is YOUR go to food when attending a State or county fair? What do you HAVE TO HAVE before leaving?

Sister, brother in law and nephew got the mini donuts. When we reached Sweet Martha's I was too full for cookies. I didn't goto the fair last year and they changed the grilled pork belly. It used to be small chunks wrapped in bacon with little balls of deep fried mashed potatoes. Now it's three chunks of pork belly (maybe 3oz each?) with a large helping of fries. That's what did me in. And I hadn't planed on going by the kabob place at all.

they are usually pretty busy, I live in Wisconsin and I think our fair gets over 1,000,000 attendees each year over like 10 days. I haven't gone in years myself, but I know a lot of people that go maybe once a year mostly out of the curiosity. I think people that live in more rural areas consider it a bigger deal and travel for it a bit, a lot of livestock and farm displays there

It's a bigger deal for rural populations. They have animal competitions and auctions. If you win a prize you can sell things like bull semen for more money. The animal thing is how they got started in the first place

yeah, I assume it began with livestock, but its maybe a quarter that plus carnival rides and fried foods and other food novelties. For some reason at the Wisconsin fair we are obsessed with "Cream Puffs"

There are plenty of beer stands too and at night live music, very often some washed up band that was big in the 80s or something. Also a lot have demolition derbies (at least at smaller county fairs, I assume the state fair does too) where people take shitty old cars and drive them into each other repeatedly until only one is still able to drive

Depends on which fair you're at. in rural areas is basically mostly about the animals, but at bigger, more urban fairs, like the Minnesota state fair, it's all about the food and rides. There's a few other things like shows and displays from the local univerities/politicians/people trying to sell you stuff, but the main thing is the food, rides and games.

It was cheaper for me to go down the road and spend $13 on a coffee and fresh veg quesadilla at a hipster cafe than it was to buy something to eat at the fair. >> No.12870916 [DELETED]

Listen up you fat retarded animals:
Women believe anything they hear.

They are instinctually programmed to assign truth to anything anyone says in their trusted social sphere with no thought or judgement at all.

Because they had to watch over others constantly since the beginning of humanity, they became selfless. Because they were so close to all the needs and wants of their people, they developed the instinct to trust them absolutely and a true understanding of their people was taken for granted.
Their bodies and minds became dedicated to nourishing their communities. They would listen to the men speaking of what they've done in the wide world and translate the substance to emotional terms that can be understood by other women, and so used to guide the behavior of the children.
When they were relieved of many responsibilities to their people by the 'modernization' of society the trait of selflessness became hollow and so turned to nothing but self-unawareness, leaving the instinct to implicitly trust their social sphere intact to be turned to purposes other than what made it to begin with.

With the addition of 'the media' to modern society, with all of its inherent falsehoods, women are turned completely against their own nature.
Their nurturing instincts are used to nurture the interests of the upper classes as handed down from the media rather than those of the people they see and interact with every day, even their own children.
Instead of being warm with compassion they are cold with judgement calculated from the information they are brainwashed with; willing to go to any length to make their friends and families conform to the dictates of the elite.

So it is that women are the primary tool of the elite to control us all, because men will do anything for their women.
So it is that love is turned against us and the very foundation of our existence is betrayed.

The people in that picture are way less obese than I expected. I mean seriously, I would've thought if you took a random picture of people at a state fair there would be a much higher percent of obese people.

2 things. First of all most people only spend one day at the fair, making it kinda like Christmas and Thanksgiving when it comes to eating. Second, you wind up doing a LOT of walking at the fair so you do burn off a bunch of the calories while there.

I live literally right across from the MN fair on larpenteur so I just stroll on in whenever. I beat my previous record at the infinite milk stand up to 19 glasses. It was great and terrible.

Yeah, but there's only like one significantly obese person in that picture. That's got to be less than the average percentage in most states.

>> No.12875812

The real way to eat fair food is to vet things that you dont normally get at restaurants. Turkey leg is common and a pretty healthy option as it's pretty lean protein. The deep fried shit is fun but don't overdo it. I saw a cotton candy burrito the other day that looked fun.

My point is, if you go to a fair and get a slice of pizza or a hambuerger you are doing it absolutely wrong.

Can't answer for other states, but in Minnesota the state fair isn't heavy (pun intended) on obese people. They can't handle all the walking involved. But man, on a warm afternoon, you walk around for a few hours what ever type of gal you are interested, you'll see a dozen of them. Usually showing a bit of skin do to the heat.

MN native, not going this year. I've been so many times already since I was a kid, even working there for a few years. I only need to go every few years now.

I personally recommend the chocolate covered bacon strips, and the Belgium waffle on a stick

Deep fried taco (chicken) is a must for me, though i always try to get some other fair type food, this year I had a grilled cheese with bacon where the bun was a krispy cream glazed donut cut in half, shit was pretty good.
