Used to work in a factory many moons ago and that place DID have a radio. One radio.
I was working on one machine most days that had just the right distance to the radio, and just the right noise level, to allow me to hear the bass line in the popsongs and nothing else.
Literally Pachelbel's Canon all fucking day. I had heard before that pop music was all based on a few standard chords, but I'm not a big music guy so I never realised how bad it was until then.

I don't think having a radio blaring in the kitchen would be conducive to the work. In a factory job where you're just working one station at a machine it's less inhibiting, although I suppose it could still be considered a safety issue if someone needs help.

I know I do. KZST 100.1 is the most garbage ass radio station. I work in an office and for the past year it’s the same shitty “pop” songs all day everyday, this has been going on for a year. No one else seems bothered by it. Ive changed it and someone keeps changing it back. No one else seems bothered that for said year. They play the same 2 Maroon 5 songs and Ed Sheeran Every. Single. I made it a rule that only one station was allowed, of my choice, and it was devoted to Scandinavian death metal.
If a majority of the workers agreed that they wanted to listen to Scandinavian death metal, then they could turn the radio on, otherwise it stayed off.
This solved any arguments, and directed ire over the management of this issue at myself, not to their co-workers.

The best kitchen guy at my last gig was a 40 year old Mexican who never seemed to move fast but always had everything done and his work station sparkling clean, the guy was a marvel of efficiency even though he didn't speak much English. He liked to listen to Imagine Dragons all day and eventually the rest of us got Stockholm syndrome'd into liking it too. Other than that it was usually Mexican country or Kid Cudi/Post Malone, depending on who got the aux. We would only stop playing music if the owner/operator was coming in that day because he had a stick up his ass about "offensive language." The rest of management was cool with it though.
The owner wad the only bad part of that gig, he would also drag his wife along despite her not having any professional experience and she would roam through the kitchen disrupting work and micromanaging things she didn't understand. Stereotypical southern baptists, but they hired good people and most of the staff pulled their weight. Ironically it was usually the white guys who would slack off and had the worst taste in music (see: Post Malone)

I worked in town that had just one radio station. It’s was NPR. They played a pretty diverse mix of music so nobody could complain much.
Another place, we went around and asked people what kind of music they like and made a Spotify radio with a mix of genres. Worked pretty well.
