once you get good at making burgers at home it's fucking depressing how shitty fast food burgers actually are

I ordered a Big Mac today and it was fucking depressingly bad. Had to go home and make myself a decent double quarter pounder of my own with unrefrigerated garden tomatoes my dad brought in (the kind with green slime in them, I don't know what that's about but they're good), 2 slices of american cheese (the good deli kind, not that shit in the plastic), onions steamed on top of the burger WHILE it's cooking like Mr. George Motz told me to, and both patties smashed flat and seasoned with onion powder and loads of salt and pepper in my stainless steel pan fried in straight-up bacon grease to get a good real sear on both sides. Both (toasted) buns had a generous coating of my own special sauce I make from mustard, mayo, and chili garlic sauce.

Shit was INCREDIBLE. I'm going to become an even bigger fat-ass now. It's like I've learned a cheat code for life where I can make burgers like this for about a damned dollar (I get grass-fed beef for cheap from a family member).

isn't that the worst of both worlds between fresh onions and carmelized? you're not getting the crunch from fresh onions or the flavor of carmelization. I prefer fresh

He had a gf in college of a few years and she got pregnant, she basically decided to get rid of it on her own. Probably her parents were involved. Anyway they broke up and eventually he ended up taking the early exit over the guilt I guess. I found his journal a few years later and one line sticks in my mind: “I killed a kid”
