>tfw you'll never have great grandma's homemade five flavor pound cake again because she got Alzheimer's and never shared the recipe with anyone

>> No.12710841

>>12710818
she probably stole the recipe from betty crocker or something and just adds in extra butter or bacon grease or lard or something to add more fat. old people love eating straight fat. all i ever hear about is how my dad used to dip his bread in the bacon grease with some sugar on it. boomer delicacy i guess

>> No.12711653

boomers vilified fat though, that's why they popularised crisco and "low fat" food

>> No.12711708

>>12711653
>boomers vilified fat
>they popularised crisco
crisco is fat

My grandparents never had an issue with fat though, they ate a lot of fatty pork, sausages, used butter/oil/mayo, etc. The only thing they really had a problem with was fast food. I think it was more gen x that had a problem with fat.

Generations are usually 20 year spans. And Gen X wasn in "power" in 1979 when fats were demonized. They were still shitting diapers so to speak.

modern recipes aren't literally a pound of each or a 1:1:1:1 ratio but they're still fairly dense and moist compared to creamed or egg foam cakes.
super easy to make, too. literally just mix the wet and dry separately then combine and bake.
