Anyone else here onto farm delivery service? This week's box was $22 delivered including the $6.35 loaf of "Rustic Italian" bread from a nearby bakery. Not cheap but I literally cannot buy this quality of stuff in town. Would have to drive 40-50 mins to this farm or somewhere similar. Oh and I get to pick what is delivered each week. Is this common?

that would cost about $15 dollars at a farmers market seems like this service is an ok deal. I wouldn't get bread though through it

If you're that rural, shouldn't you have some space to grow it yourself?

I live in Morgantown, WV.. Not exactly rural but the supermarket produce suck dick and I usually can't hit the markets due to work. Deers or goundhogs eat the shit out of everything I've ever tried to grow in my yard. Do have some bell peppers & squash coming in nicely in planters tho

They just put it in your cooler for you if you're away, which is nice

You can erect fencing, even jury rigged with the scraps laying around in your fetanyl/meth whitetrash hell hole of WV. Get creative.

>$22 for maybe $10 worth of food
I guess it's worth it if you're rich enough that money just doesn't matter to you anymore and a marginal improvement in quality is all you care about, but that's pretty ridiculous for anyone else.

It’s be worth it if it wasn’t just herbs and garlic. They need a better array than just shit used for seasoning.

>> No.12689904

>>12689637
That's pretty steep for the amount you're getting. At a farmer's market, assuming that stuff is actually local/in season, it'd be really cheap.

bread is poverty food you dumbass. when i was super broke i'd get day old loaves for a dollar and eat it breakfast lunch and dinner for three days. imagine paying seven dollars for solidified gruel. the asians just sold me a sack of cherries like 3 and a half pounds for seven dollars.

three and a half fucking pounds of cherries.

also you're missing half your fucking leeks. stupid flyover

2.5 lbs of tomatoes. This was the first time they have been an option so I guess they're just coming into season. Small but very sweet and tasty

if you add those to a dinner meal with meat, like a stew and make a giant batch, those veggies will last you all week, if not two weeks, easily

That's expensive, but you're paying for convenience and quality. Not to mention you're helping support small farmers. I'm looking to start something similar soon.
