Fuck its so unfair. I've only been to one place that even came close and a large was $25.

I don’t know man. Pizza never seems worth the effort to me. It’s actually kinda expensive to make and my oven is never gonna be comparable to an actual wood fire oven.

>> No.12686297

I buy premade dough at Whole Foods for the convenience. I then go to my local regular supermarket for pizza sauce and mozzarella. All in, I'm looking at like $4 per pizza, with toppings.

It only takes like 5 minutes to prepare a pizza. Why do people say it's so hard? Is this a memo? It's practically the same amount of time as doing an online order with Dominos.

For real, a resteraunt serving good food wont be cheap
There are 5 pizza places were i live 4 (no chains) have pretty much the exact same prices and i would bet dough and toppings aswell
The 5th makes almost everything himself and they use a real wood oven (can smell them starting it at about 16:00 on my way home from work)
I only go to the 5th and pay almost 1.5 times as much but have never been let down

If you have an actuall pizza oven (gas or wood) its worth it at home otherwise you might aswell just make a frozen one in a normal oven

Holy hell you are dense. You're not even really cooking. Just assembling

>>12686278
How is it expensive? Which part? Most places charge $10-$15 for a large. You can't keep it under that? And you don't need a wood oven. Just a pizza stone a long time to pre heat it

I live in New Zealand (am from Chicago) and my only option is to make it myself. You'd think someone, somewhere would've thought to bring what would be a C+/B- delivery "map of Italy" quality place here and just clean up but no...no can do.

I understand the inability to get the right ingredients to make good mexican, but pizza? Oh well.

>> No.12686318

>pain in the ass to make
I genuinely never understood why people say this. It's about as much work as any other thing except you have to let the dough rest for a while. You do know you can fuck off and do something else during the dough resting time, right? Or do people just stand there watching it in case of a wild nigger attack?

Real simple dough, 2 folds. Cheddar, goat cheese, boars Head pep, sauteed shiitakes with garlic, finished with decent American parm and cornicabra oil. 7 minutes at 500 on a stone then finish under the broiler for a bit

Buy 12" or larger soft wheat tortillas.
Buy pre-made sauce.
put a thin layer of sauce between two tortillas.
Put another layer of sauce on top, and then top with cheese and a few other toppings. Not too many.
Bake it in the oven until it's done.

This style of pizza is delicious and makes little mess. After the first couple shouldn't take longer than 15 minutes from setting the oven to pre-heat until a finished product.

Looks preddy good, not much spring on your crust though, I'd say you didn't preheat your oven/stone very long, especially if it took 7 minutes. When I make pizza I preheat my cast iron and the oven, load my pizza on and switch straight to broil and it's done in a couple of minutes.

Try 48 hours or more. Dough is much more sour and flavorful.

I buy frozen cheese pizzas and dress them up. It's fun, inexpensive, you get something fresh from the oven, and, for me at least, I prefer it to the national chains and most local places, too. When I want something better than frozen crust, I'll order a cheese pizza from a local place. If you want something loaded with toppings, do it yourself at home. If dough quality is what you care about, then order takeout.

OP was showing off his ridiculous sense of entitlement, griping about how really good food is either something of a chore to prepare or expensive to have made for you. No shit. This is why most people settle for mediocrity.

I don't think you can freeze fries, but for pizza dough don't freeze the dough raw, give it the shape, and cook it for a little bit, then you can freeze it safely.
