So do we all agree that brownies are the supreme dessert?

Most birthday cakes are all pomp and no substance. Icecream is good though, but as far as baked desserts go, brownies reign supreme.

Only fudge brownies, and without frosting. Cake brownies suck.

>>12684264
This is the best fudge brownie recipe I've found and it only has 7 ingredients, and the only thing most people probably wouldn't already have is the cocoa powder.

too much icing on birthday cake, though I'd agree with you if you swap for a thick moist yellow cake (with tons of yolks) with minimal icing or ganache and vanilla bean ice cream. Otherwise, brownies are much better.

I enjoy cake if it has a good frosting that isnt intolerably sweet and thick like the packaged stuff, buttercream is a good option. you must also get the frosting to cake ration right and the right cake texture. Its super easy to mess up as compared to brownies.

>>12684245
Personaly, I feel that brownies alone are too strong of a taste if I want to enjoy them. If i just want to scarf them down they are fine. Brownies turn into one of my prefered deserts to actualy enjoy when paired with vanilla icecream. the flavors and textures work off each other soo well, and the ice creme mitigated the overwhelming chocolate taste.

You can use whatever brand, it doesn't matter. The recipe came from a Great Value cocoa powder container, so they want you to use all Great Value products obviously since it's more profit for them. But they aren't necessary for the recipe.
