The 5 layer burrito is the king of Taco Bell, but a few months ago they raised the price by nearly 50% and turned it into a premium item, which really killed it for most people. Fortunately they still include it in half of their $5 boxes, though those aren't usually that great of a deal unless you actually want a drink. Get your 5 layer (or any other burrito) grilled, and if you use the app you can add onions and red sauce at no extra charge. The best current $5 box is the nacho fries box. Switch the hard taco for an al fresco soft shell and add a few fries with some of the cheese sauce to it; their pickled jalapenos are kind of sweet and go pretty well, but aren't worth the price, so just add your own. Outside of a $5 box the tacos aren't worth the price, and the dorito tacos just taste like salt, so avoid those. I don't really like when they do a special item that's premium priced and not dollar menu, but the reaper ranch fries burrito (pic related) is actually pretty good. I'd usually advise to avoid steak and potatoes at Taco Bell, but somehow this works. Try all the sauces and inevitably you'll realize that fire is the only one you want or need.

Forgot to mention that you should order a couple fritos burritos along with whatever else you get (grilled with onions and red sauce, obviously); you might want a 3am snack and they reheat perfectly in the microwave the morning after for a nice breakfast.
>>12675189
>got another promo going on
A promo may have sucked me in, but the quality and value kept me going back. There's maybe 2 or 3 other fast food places I'd ever consider eating from once or twice a month at most.

Also, some anon will inevitably try to push the quesarito or a griller - don't listen to them. The quesarito is basically a smaller version of the 5 layer with rice instead of beans with chipotle sauce for a dollar more. Adding chipotle sauce to a 5 layer costs 30 cents, and the beans go much better with their beef than does their rice (also makes it hard to dip in your fire sauce). The grillers are almost $3 and are smaller than both the fritos burrito and cheesy rice and bean burrito, which both cost $1 and you can get grilled at no extra charge.

I usually swap out steak for shredded chicken. It's better IMO.

>you'll realize that fire is the only one you want or need
Fire is good but diablo is better for some stuff. I normally do a diablo/fire combo for heat+flavor.

Nacho fries supreme
Chalupa supreme
Mini shredded quesadillas
And forget the five layer, just get the Quesarito, nearly the same price but Quesarito is miles better.

Fuck beans

The Quesarito is not smaller than the 5 layer, anybody who says this garbage is mentally ill. Imagine having so much against a bigger burrito with more good filling to get people to eat more beans.

Quesarito
Beef is the best version. They charge more for chicken and steak, and anybody adding chicken and steak to a burrito is getting charged more.

>The Quesarito is not smaller than the 5 layer
Taco Bell is wildly inconsistent with their burritos, but in my experience the quesarito has always been on average a little smaller than the 5 layer. I'll pick up one of each later to compare.

>>12675437
>customized it would be amazing
It's a premium item designed for people who don't care to put in 30 seconds of effort to customize anything. You're retarded to buy a quesarito and customize it when you can customize a 5 layer into a quesarito and it's still cheaper before modifying anything else.

>probably would take you longer to go into the customization menu on their shitty app than just order the quesarito
The app is great for some things but if I'm in the drive thru I'm just getting the quesarito.

>> No.12675580

>Is the 5 layer double wrapped?
Yes, it's exactly the same. Taco bell uses "grilled" as a gimmick to upcharge even though you can get anything grilled for no extra charge. They also put it in a foil wrapper to make it seem like it's something hot and special, but aside from a couple ingredients it's exactly the same as a grilled 5 layer.

>> No.12675778

>>12675522
Their app is shit, but it's still a lot faster to order beforehand once you're in the drive through, and they're more likely to get your order correct since it's already in the system.

>diablo is better for some stuff
Like what? The only thing I can think of is maybe their chicken, but I almost never get chicken. None of the sauces have any heat so I don't really get cutting your fire with diablo for that reason when you could just add something at home if that's all you're going for.

>> No.12677564

>if I'm in the drive thru I'm just getting the quesarito
I found myself at a Wendy's with a female friend like a decade ago and said I'd get her whatever she wanted. She was like, "I'm craving meat, I'll get that $6 baconator" which had just come out. I ordered off the dollar menu and got a jr bacon cheeseburger, chili, and fries for $3. When our food came I looked at her burger and realized I could have ordered 3 jr bacon cheeseburgers for half the price, thrown out half the toppings and most of the bread, stacked everything else on top of one another, and would have ended up with exactly the same thing. Many places have loss leaders, but fast food places literally expect people to buy premium items out of laziness. Don't be that guy. If you're spending over $5 on fast food for a single meal you might as well just go to a bar during happy hour and get some real food.
