Hey /ck/, wondering if any of you have an interesting way to do this classic sandwich?

That image doesn't have enough bacon, I think a reasonable but equal amount of the 3 are best.
You don't need avocado.
Salt and pepper on the veggies.
Good quality mayo.
Add onion if you want.
Cheese isn't necessary, but sure why not.
If you choose a quality mozz then go ahead and add balsamic to your mayo and basil leaves.

I grew up in an area where a lot of people grow their own tomatoes and they're used in everything. I eat a ton of tomato sandwiches, which consists of white bread, large tomato slices, generous mayo, and pepper on that bitch.

I just moved and don't have tomatoes this year from the garden. But tomatoe sandwich? That's like having a bread sandwich

>> No.12644639

When I have some, i like to use tomato jam. And when I do, I also add a fried egg.
>sourdough, toasted
>mayo on one side
>tomato jam on the other side
>bacon over the tomato jam
>then a fried egg sprinkled with pepper and hot sauce
>then leaf lettuce on the mayo side
Delicious.
Some other things I like adding to normal blts, are sliced peppers (jalapeños, pepperocini, banana peppers, etc); avocado; olives; apicy mayo, etc. My favorite brwad to use is aourdough, but I also like seeded rye or oat & seed bread for them.
Also, sometimes I'll glaze the bacon while it's cooking for extra flavor.

If you have more or less ingredients than bacon, lettuce and tomato (not including sauce and seasoning) it is not a BLT

Not really, you use a THICK layer of tomato, with a lot of pepper and mayo. You use very high quality homegrown tomatoes so it's pretty flavorful. Also good if you put some sharp cheese in it. I see what you mean if it's only a few slices between some wonder bread though.

Not so, a good heirloom or beefsteak tomato perfectly ripened and thickly sliced with salt, pepper, and mayo is divine. Cheese, onion, or mustard are optional too.

Skip the bacon, go straight to the hard core
Get some slabs of real pork belly, 1/4" thick at least
Bake in oven, 400f, til outside gets crispy
Then proceed to make sammich.
Option 2; Serious backwoods style
Use hog jowls, prepared the same way.
Whichever you choose, you'll never go back to wimpy bacon again.

The BLT is a closed loop, because the name is very limiting. That said, you can obviously just add tuna and cheese, and you suddenly have a tuna melt.

If you want to limit yourself to bacon-lettuce-tomato, then just use fancier versions of everything
>pancetta or guanciale, instead of B
>arugula or spinach, instead of L
>sun-dried or green tomatoes, or a rosemary cherry tomato chutney, instead of T

Adding rosemary or basil makes sense, because those almost always work with tomato. Iceberg lettuce usually sucks, but it works well on the BLT. But if you're going to up one element, you might as well do everything,

Sorry, I'm joking but it's like dipshits adding avocados to everything. It's just boring oil, or boring egg protein. It's not offensive, but it's just adding on to something that doesn't need it. BLT should be light, bright and salty. An egg is like when your cat shits in his box and you're forced to smell it. It's cloying and makes everything miserable.

This sandwich needs a positive void coefficient. And you're removing, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise, all of this increases reactivity. As Baconium breaks apart it creates breadonium and that poisons the core of the sandwich. You're stalling the sandwich.
