Lots of Chinese dishes are made from thinly sliced strips of meat and vegetable. You could use a fork, but you would definitely get less per attempt than you would with chopsticks. Chopsticks are better in general for Chinese food because of this.

Retard post. If you're cooking a tender steak (ribeye, filet) or another tender cut of meat like a chicken parm or something, you should be able to cut it with the side of your fork if you haven't completely fucked up.

If you're eating a pasta dish which has a thick chunky sauce, a fork can get the pasta and the sauce in the same bite while chopsticks can't.

A fork can be used for desserts such as pie & ice cream.
