Thats because Scotch/Irish benefit from aging while Bourbon does not. Cheap scotch is usually some shitty blend. Either way something like Redbreast 12 can be had for $50 which I'd rather drink than most bourbons at a similar price point.

I prefer Tullamore Dew, but I won't turn down a Jameson drink, I just think it's too pricey with better alternatives. I had a liquor store job a year and a half ago when Jameson stout cask and black barrel came out, but I wouldn't use either of those for a drink, I'd just enjoy them on their own.
Also I fuck with a good Bourbon. Bulleit or Gentleman Jack are alright, I got my dad Elijah Craig for father's day last year. Four Roses is well drink prices for pretty decent taste.
