I hated both coconut flavor and seafood as a kid, yet laksa la mian is the most over the top high quality instant noodle I've had now as an adult. I think taking the two flavors together ends up weirdly eliminating either's independent taste in favor of some new radically different third taste.

You're having Singapore Laksa, aka Curry Laksa. There's no seafood cooked into the broth. The prawn, fishcake and cockles are added later with the noodles/vermicelli when serving.

The other variety popularized in Penang that uses fish paste in the broth is Assam Laksa, and it does not use coconut milk.

So leik, the whole experience you described is a lie, even people that came up with laksa know to keep coconut milk and seafood separate.

Not sure what you're talking about. It's definitely Laksa La Mian (Prima Taste) and there are only two pouches you add to the noodles. One is ground up shrimp and the other is coconut milk powder.

PS: I honestly hope you reply back and apologize because I'm legitimately annoyed you're calling me a liar about a fucking pack of noodles you could've googled about youself to avoid this confusion.

If it says "Singapore Laksa" and it has shrimp paste in it, then it is *definitely* a lie. Go puke what you ate into a baggie and ask for a refund.

So your problem is the shrimp is crushed instead of whole?
Is this one of those autistic "not authentic" deals like when people get upset about instant noodles being labeled as "ramen noodles?"
Prima Taste Laksa La Mian is legit. Look it up, everyone gives it rave reviews. Easily one of the best instant noodle packs around.

I’ve heard great things about this. Noodles look a bit too thick for my liking, would still give it a try though. For me, its picrelated.
