Not "chicken fried steak and gravy", anon, "chicken friend steak, BAKED IN gravy". I had to account for some family members with a... certain deficit of teeth. You let the meat slow bake in the gravy until it's fork, nay, spoon-tender, so grandma and grandpap can enjoy it too. And you serve it with rice, so there's some mouth-feel. I couldn't leave my grandparents to subsist on grits, and fucking sandwiches of potted meat on white bread with mayo, alone.

I apologize if I had to adapt my cooking to constraints you didn't have to. If it's any consolation to you, my grandparents are all dead, now. They'll never have to suffer my slow-cooked steaks, or my cottage pies, or my pasta orzo casseroles ever again.
