As a non-American, its Native reservations have always fascinated me with their massive borders and populations in comparison to those found in other countries. In many ways, they look and sound like functioning, separate nations.

Because of this, it's a small addition to my travel bucket list to visit a few of the bigger ones and try whatever surviving food culture is still there.

Does anyone have experience with indigenous cooking? Where should I go looking?

I watched a youtube video about this not too long ago. Let me see if I can find it again. I'd be curious to hear back from you OP. I've never had it, so it'll be interesting to hear what you think about it.

I visited one in northwestern WA where they were cold smoking salmon on racks in their yards. Stopped in and bought some but they were not friendly at all. Strangely, they still harbor resentment about whites genociding them.

very little of it still exists outside of Washington salmon or shit like raw seal blubber in Alaska. You will much more likely encounter "indian fry bread" or "indian tacos" which aren't authentic

Interesting. Were they just quick to get you out or were they actively being assholes?

I work on one. Place is basically a ghetto, just a bunch of wannabe niggers and alcoholics/meth-heads.

Navajo here. Navajo tacos (which legally are called Indian tacos now I think) and breakfast burritos which are just spam and potatoes are my two favorites. Honestly, the really cultural food doesn't taste all that great and it's hard to find somebody who'll make you some. And some like Navajo cake is an acquired taste.

They’re savages and always have been. Don’t take it personally. Here’s a rare based example: >>>/wsg/2820809

I am an outsider but I am a member of the tribe. My family is military so I grew outside the reservation.
