Why did everyone decide to stop making fast food restaurants look nice?

They franchised

>> No.12481360

because they need to all be the same modern, drab, square

>> No.12481361

Because those styles became associated with fast food restaurants.

Didn't they always use to say in news articles that fast food restaurants *benefited* from creating lots of psychological associations to their food to keep people addicted to it?

I think it's more these than this:

Everything about fast food chains have gone downhill since the 90s. Both decor and the food quality itself. Probably more about cutting corners and trying to make more and more money doing less and less than it is an attempt at marketing improvements.

You must hate yourselves.

This McDonald's in Dallas, Texas is definitely a kid's paradise. Not only does it look like a gargantuan happy meal, but it also features a huge McDonald's Play-place inside. Surprisingly, this wacky McDonald's has a tasteful interior, with designer touches such as Ralph Lauren wallpaper, crystal chandeliers, and mahogany booths. There's nothing like a luxury setting that will also keep the kids occupied for a little while. All this McDonald's needs is a fancy adult happy meal to compliment its luxurious interior.

None of us have the fast food buildings in the OP picture. They died after the 90s.

>> No.12481664

>>12481374
that's actually why they look the same
each mcdonalds looks the exact same so that it triggers a habit pattern in its customers.

>> No.12481668

>>12481664
But then why did they stop doing that? McDonald's no longer has a distinctive appearance and looks like all the other modern fast food exteriors today.

Most of the McDonald's in the Orlando area used to be elaborately themed like this one (probably due to their close proximity to Disney), but they have all since been redone in the most generic ways possible.

Those are /comfy/. If I go to a fast food restaurant or a dinner, I want it to look old and genuine. The biggest turn-off ever is when you go to a chain that tried to over-modernized like McDonald's calling itself "McCafé" with all-glass walls and soulless unaturally-too-clean plastic interior furnitures.

Don't try to fool me into thinking this is a hip and classy place, it's a fucking fast-food joint.

Got me wondering so I looked all around the city (picrelated)
Seems a couple old ones are different, a couple more were built inside existing structures and look weird but half of them are new and all the same ugly building like the architect could only find his one straight ruler

>> No.12481951

>>12481937
Good work rounding all those images up. That's really weird to me how the design in the first one is exactly the same as all the "Yum" owned restaurants (KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut). Especially that rectangular motif where there's one long, thin rectangle colored differently and raised higher than the rest of the building.
I have no idea why they would all do that. It looks like shit.

This one is in Hale'iwa Hawaii. I used to live near there and I always thought it looked cool.
