I don't know why you lost the technology for the meat pie, they're not hard to make but
you need to use beef dripping to make the bottom crust
a regular puff pastry will work fine for the top.
the filling should be made from minced beef and chuck steak, heavy on the pepper and light on the onion
it needs gravy but also I add gelatin to my gravy

It's a day off. Most people don't care that much about anzac day. It was a bigger deal when granddad used to march in the parade but these days, Australia hasn't been in a war with real danger and lots of dead soldiers in over half a century. Even Vietnam was a pretty safe war for Australia most of the time.
