What was the best pure cooking show on tv?

For me, it has to be a tie between the Frugal Gourmet and Molto Mario.

>For me, it has to be a tie between the Frugal Gourmet and Molto Mario.
OMG, Jeff Smith was a delight and an educator. I can hear him screaming to Craig right now when the spaghetti was inside the pot pie crust. He taught me so much. I had all his cookbooks, and still have a peek at the cooking with wine book occasionally. Since I travel quite a bit, I was also interested in his cooks with chicken book, and found it fascinating how the stocks for chicken soup varied by country, so I could get things right when I made stock in the pressure cooker for a recipe plan.
Molto Mario was very educational as well, all of that timing for plating food at the same time, quickly hand making some pasta idea, but, really underappreciated is a short series on Prime, where Emeril took him to Shanghai for soup dumplings research.
My other biggest influence back in the early days was Cooking Live with Sara Moulton. She had guests on her show from various expert fields, from academia to authors to reviewers, to owner of landmark restaurants, and the chitchat of technique and recipe origins with the beginning to end timing of the meal was so valuable.
I have a lot of travel time to Mexico City while growing up, thanks to my Dad who was in airline management/security. With all the high end wining and dining back in the days of daily peso devaluation, I was an early foodie. So, my interests was piqued on that subject, and loved the research and regional interests expressed by both Too Hot Tamales (Susan Feniger/Milliken) and Rick Bayless (though he was annoying to listen to, he had some passion). I loved when Diana Kennedy would show up on someone's cooking show. It's on my bucket list to go to a class at: http://www.dianakennedycenter.org/
As a Southerner I used to both love and cringe at some of the early shows on the subject of southern cooking, boy has that come a long way, but I was always interested in the perfect pimento cheese or biscuits.

If you read that article, you'd notice the accuser was accused of check fraud on the business's checking account. He was a criminal.

I think if there was anything possibly true, it might be that he was closeted. Whatevs. It was a different era but it all might all still be untrue. There were serious problems with each of the accusers and he claimed his innocence. He was going to testify to that before the settlement. Like I said, if you know about legal things, it was a cost savings to the insurance company not to pay attorney fees indefinitely. The fact the accusers gladly took money vs not want him to testify and some "truth" public record is also telling.

It doesn't matter. The matter has been settled. His career was ruined. Mario is going through the same thing. That doesn't invalidate the great work either did, nor does it make either man less of a titan in his respective field. Yea, she no she doesn't. You sound kind of envious or hateful. She's just an original Mom type cooking for her family and their business. All that blogging and photography simply turned into a business, but it didn't start from influence or income. Before it was ever profitable, it was just a labor of love and quite simply just coming out of multiple kids and employees to do nice things for and with..
The rest? Buying up a dead main street and making a art studio, hotel, etc, it doesn't seem as much about financial empire as sort of giving back to a once better point in time, formerly thriving town. Good for them, really.
