Lately I've been making meals based around cans of baked beans. Simmer them for 10 minutes with a chopped up potato, then throw some extra meat and/or veggies on top for the last 5-10 minutes. No extra flavouring required.

After years of seeing cans of that shit on store shelves and pictures on here I finally tried some Thursday with my dinner.
That is the most bland shit I have ever tasted. I added a half cup of bbq sauce and the blandness overwhelmed the KC Masterpiece like I didn't use any at all. If I ever try again which is highly doubtful I will add about a quart to the can.

Never understood canned beans really since dry beans are much cheaper and you can control the sodium level instead of getting hit with 1 serving having 3X the RDA of sodium.
>soak beans overnight
>cook in pressure cooker for 20 minutes
It isn't even more difficult or time consuming. Canned beans, you fail the /ck/ acceptance test.

When you watch a British documentary, about the fucking British, life during WW2, and they talk about how citizens found they preferred the taste of the powdered egg rations over the real thing... that's when you realize Britain's food has been fucked for a while.

Makes you wonder when they switched make and why? Makes baking easier and they consume nothing but bread, pies, and deep-fried shit with potatoes?

The entire history of those Isles is pretty depressing. They boiled the shit out of absolutely everything from their beginnings as a people far as I've been able to research. It even got so bad they had to encourage people to drink the boil water in the 20th century because of malnutrition. WW1 and WW2 rationing did nothing to better their cuisine but I think they have always been culinarily fucked up. That's probably part of the reason they took over the world.

That hotdog looks fucking amazing, but it needs some pickled peppers(tobasco, sport, jalapeno, pepperoni, etc.), some relish, cheddar cheese, and a fuckton of celery salt. Some ketchup or sriracha too.

Why would you regularly eat something so sugary and sweet? Gross. Just do a plain can of beans instead of that nonsense.

>> No.12382426

baked beans are beans in corn syrup
If you want sweet beans, simmer home cooked beans in a spicy tomato sauce, then when you're about to eat them, add a couple packets of aspartame.
