My older brother started out as a bartender and did that for some time then got sick of it and went on to be food & beverage director for multiple Hilton hotels and he got sick of that as well.
I guess it depends on what one makes of it.

I was a bartender for 4 years. It's kind of fun at first but faking liking your patrons eventually wears on you. Dealing with drunk fucks gets old real quick. The money is excellent but you have to fake being everyone's friends. I have many stories.
