Where do you guys get actually fresh fish where you live?

Well here in Western North Carolina we’re not too far from the coast so some ocean fish you can get from supermarkets that was caught, cleaned, filleted, and then shipped up to the mountains to on a refridgerated truck so it’s relatively fresh. If you want really fresh fish though you can go catch them yourself in rivers, ponds, and lakes. We have tasty but rather small trout and crawdads in our streams. Bass, catfish, and bluegill can be caught in the lakes and ponds. Also there’s some bullfrogs around if you’re a Cajun who’s into grilled bullfrog legs.

I walk across the street to the river and fish, or down the street to the ocean and fish there.

I live so far from the coast that I refuse to eat fish. It's not good so far inland and way to expensive.

I should have specified I live in Nevada. The closest body of water is Lake Mead, but eating those mutated catfish isnt a good idea.

The only place that has crawfish here is the drainage tunnels. They feast on hobo corpses.

This has essentially been my view my whole life. Every time I've tried fish or shellfish here it tasted like a dirty aquarium smells.

i live in denver, what people need to understand is the concept of food miles. People up here be trying to eat "fresh" oysters and the like. but the truth is, if you trying to get fresh seafood and you're not on the coast, then its slim fucking pickings. and the restaurants or seafood asian centers are FUBAR.

The fishing is pretty good in the lakes/rivers around here. I can just drive a few miles down the road and get some.
