Find a recipe that looks good, read the directions, follow the directions, repeat. You'll pick up on what to do and how to make things better with practice.

I am still amazed at how the most basic of skills as cooking is beyond the reach of some. Have you never worked in a restaurant? Had you no mother?

Can you not READ???

Sigh, start with a basic chicken marsala recipe. Fuck the pasta. You'll learn a lot here.

Fry eggs in a pan, don't forget a little oil or a little butter
Look up how to fry an egg on youtube

Don't leave the pan unattended, eggs cook fast
If you break the yolk then the worst that can happen is scambled eggs, which are also good

download fitmencook app and thumb through until you find something that looks tasty. Gonna need some basic cooking utensils though.

Start with really easy bullshit and go from there as the inspiration takes you. Like just fry up some sausage bullshit, cook some pasta for 8 minutes and pour some shitty tomato sauce crap on it. It'll fucking suck and you'll be desperate to improve on it, which is tomorrows task. That's when you add some onion and realize fuck this is nigger food without spices, better get on that.

i have fun trying to find a really healthy recipe & then figuring out ways to doctor it up to make it taste good without making it unhealthy

>>12309167
my favorite way to fry eggs is to stick a lid over the pan & let the bottom part of the egg cook from the pan (on medium heat) & the top cook from the steam -- its done when the yolk just starts turning white: it comes out with a gooey center, & its so gewwd

Hello, I used to be like you
the absolute best starting place is the pre-packaged golden curry box recipe, found in most grocery stores' international/asian aisle. Make this 3 or 4 times, it requires light prep and gets you acquainted with things that are in almost every soup/stew/curry/broth

Also, either get a rice cooker or learn to make rice. The most important step is rinsing your rice multiple times until the water is no longer murky

Once you can do those things, you have what you need for 70% of recipes. Start googling foods you crave and learn how to make them one at a time. The rest is practice.

Id say this is the easiest way to save money, learn some basic cooking skills, and prepare something you can feel decent about eating (vs eating fast food)

>watch a couple youtube videos on how to cook a chicken breast or a steak
>do the same for a plain-ish vegetable or two (some simple oven roasted veggies is a great start)
>buy some cheap olive oil
>buy a seasoning that sounds good (McCormacks is a decent and cheap seasoning to fuck around)
>buy a condiment or two like a steak sauce and some hot sauce
>buy some frozen garlic bread or fresh from the deli area if they have it

Thats about as simple of a bachelor meal as you can make.

Here's a pretty basic meal guide I use. If you get more used to cooking in the future you can always adjust things.

Monday
Burgers

Tuesday
Sausages/Hot Dogs, with or without rolls, bread etc (up to you)

Wednesday
Chicken Stir Fry (thigh or breast) with Rice

Thursday
Meatloaf (or just do burgers again). Use a pound of ground beef for this and eat the rest the next day.

Friday
Frozen Pizza

Saturday
Chicken Kebab/Gyro/Wrap (thigh or breasts)

Sunday
Roasted or Panfried Chicken breast

Use 250 to 350 grams (roughly half to 3/4th of a pound) of meat per meal. The sausages/hot dog & frozen pizza are in there because you don't want to necessarily cook every night with full prep, but are still better than fast food. If you want to use left overs for lunch the next day for the non-meatloaf then double the meat per meal. Fill out meals with rice, eggs, potato, onions, capsicum, corn, and include leaf vegetables like lettuce or spinach leaves.

Breakfast is something basic like cornflakes, shredded wheat, or just 2/4 pieces of toast with jam or peanut butter.

Ingredients list:
Sugar, Salt, Pepper, Basil, Oregano, Cumin, Coriander, Smoked Paprika, Garlic Powder, Chili if you enjoy heat, minced garlic.
Potato
Rice (I like Jasmine)
2 pound of ground beef
2 pound of chicken (1 pound breast, 1 pound thigh)
Margarine, stick of butter.
Sunflower Oil
Corn, Peas (can be bought bulk frozen)
Capsicum/Bell Peppers
Spinach Leaves/Lettuce
Carrots
Onions
Flatbread/wrap/pita, Burger rolls. Try to buy day you're going to use them from local bakery.
Bread, you will probably go through 2 if you eat 4 slices of toast for breakfast each day)
Milk
Dozen eggs
Jam
Peanut Butter
A jar sauce for the stir fry, pick what you like, curry, satay, cashew chicken, chinese etc. When you get more used to cooking you can eventually make your own with coconut cream.
Lemon Juice
Greek Yogurt (you can make an alternative to mayo by using some yogurt, lemon juice, salt, pepper, oregano, garlic)

just start with things you have a taste for then. either things you order there (since even if it's shit like burgers or tendies, you cooking them yourself, even if it's not ideal, will still be infinitely healthier than fastfood), or just go down to "i like chicken, let me look up basic chicken recipes", "i like spicy shit, let me look up some sauces/dressings to put on meat or vegetables or pasta"

you know what flavors you like

OP,

1.think of something you really like.

2. Now that you have thought of something, search "[Thing I really like] recipe". You will find a bunch of results, typically the first one is okay, the food network ones have never been bad.

3. Now follow the recipe, don't skip any steps, don't substitute anything, don't deviate from the recipe at all.

4.Now you have cooked something.

If you can't think of anything, make pancakes. Don't buy a mix, search for a pancake recipe and follow it. Cooking is about following instructions and at some point you remember them so you don't have to look at instructions anymore. Don't deviate from recipes until you get an idea of whats going on. I find most people who fail to copy my recipes, changed something.

If you can't follow instructions, cooking might not be your thing.

Start with copying fast food. Do you like chicken nuggets? Make chicken nuggets, they are surprisingly easy to make.

Ask your Mom, grandma, aunt, or really any family member. One of them are bound to know how to cook and they won't mind teaching you unless they are total assholes.

Baked chicken with green beans and rice:

>Rice
Start this first since it will take a bit to cook and it can stay warm in the pot no problem. Put 1 and 1/2 cups of water in a small pot and boil it on the stove. Add 1 cup of rice, salt, a pinch of black pepper, and about a teaspoon of butter, just a thick slice. Turn the heat down to low, give it a quick stir, and put the lid on the pot. Let it simmer for about 20-25 minutes, just until it looks fluffy and all the water is absorbed.

>Chicken
Start this while you start the rice by preheating your oven to 400F. Hopefully the oven will be ready by the time you’re putting the lid on the rice, but if not that’s fine. Get some chicken thighs or breasts, pat them dry, and season them with salt, pepper, paprika, oregano, thyme, and garlic. Fresh garlic put through a garlic press is preferable but garlic powder will work especially for a first timer. Just pat the spices on all over the meat. Get a glass baking dish and pour a little olive oil into it, spread it around so it coats the bottom, then put the meat in the dish and put it in the oven for 30 minutes or until the chicken is cooled through. Slice a thick part with a knife and look at the color of the middle to tell if it’s done.

>Green beans
This is the simplest part of the meal, and also the quickest so do this when the rice is done and the chicken is almost ready. Get some fresh green beans and wash them, then cut the ends off them. Heat up a pan on medium high heat, add some olive oil to it, and then toss in the cut green beans with some salt and pepper. Stir the beans around as they fry and don’t worry too much about overcooking them, they can take a lof of heat. When most of the beans are starting to turn a darker shade of green add some garlic and keep cooking till they’re soft yet still crunchy.

Put it all on a plate and eat up. It’s a simple and plain meal but it’s delicious and satisfying in that simplicity.
