As with all things, it depends.
It could all just be related to a caffeine addiction, you view them as your dealer and they make you happy when you see them because you associate them with your coffee high.
But if you do like them, asking them out might be a bit tricky, if it's really corporate like Starbucks, you won't get the time to do it, plus they must have that fake attitude at all times or face a reprimand. In all likelihood, they probably will say no.
If the place you go to is a specialty coffee shop, you need to be so careful. The specialty coffee industry is unbelievably """woke""" so you might get #MeToo'd or accused of harassment so be careful anon.
However if it is neither of these you still need to get her off "Sales mode" because they won't be open to the idea of you selling yourself and thus be willing to entertain the idea of you hanging out.
Try this; ask her "So any plans for the weekend? I bet mine could beat up yours?"
Establish friendly banter. After a while when you have decent rapport, strike up a conversation when it's quiet and at the end say, "I've really enjoyed talking with you, is there any way we could continue this conversation?" You could get a number, Facebook or date from this.
Alternatively, if she likes coffee, do research in your local area. Talk about the good spots and signature drinks, say you should try and go. "You should let me know when you head over, I just love any excuse to visit!" Etc.

french press grind, add water, let sit 12-24 hours at room temp, filter (paper filter is achingly slow but produces a very clean concentrate; french press is quicker but will leave more grit), chill, dilute to taste

extraction is slow enough that it's pretty forgiving, particularly if you're prepared to dilute it anyway, so even the very broad parameters I've specified are perhaps too specific; I've used considerably finer grinds than french press and it came out fine.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I have a really nice grinder, so I'll look into the Kalita Wave. My blender has these nice bullet cups where a lid with food processor blades attaches to the blender and blends the stuff in the cup. I may as well go through my coffee ritual.

>put bullet cup on scale and turn on scale
>put 60 grams of death wish coffee beans in the cup, blend to the point it doesn't clog the filter, and add grounds to french press
>heat water on stove to 200°F and immediately add to french press
>stir and let sit for 5-6 minutes
>strain and pour into serving cup

Makes 700ml of strong ass coffee that keeps me awake for 4 extra hours.

Tasteless anon here, hope everyone is as good as their coffee this morning.
Recently got a bag of light roast Burundi coffee from rooftop roasters. Was gonna try and make some airopress later for myself and the gf. However gf refuses to have any fresh coffee. She hates espresso drinks to. She's a self confessed "coffee fraud"

Retard here, take two identical measures of ground coffee (say 7g), make a piccolo out of one, a lungo of the other. Will they have the same caffeine content? Will one have more? I understand the taste is more concentrated in the smaller one, but what about muh jitters?

>> No.12287581

>>12287547
Caffeine is one of the more soluble parts of coffee so it's pretty much fully extracted within the first few seconds. Regardless of the water volume out, both would have about the same amount of caffeine, or maybe an insignificantly different amount in the lungo. 7g is also like a third of what would be used to pull an average shot, so I wouldn't imagine there being enough caffeine to make you jittery unless you're hypersensitive.

Integrated grinders are never ever as good as having a dedicated grinder. No one can say what is "worth it" besides you dummy, some would say they wouldn't spend any less than $10k on a complete setup, others would be happy with a $600 breville barista express like you're describing. In my opinion home espresso is a meme unless you're a hobbyist. The upkeep is high and you're likely not saving money for several years compared to buying shots at a shop unless you're drinking like 2-3 shots a day. It makes a lot more sense to just spend what you were going to for a machine on a really amazing grinder and build out your brewing from there. I prefer the more refined balanced notes of fresh ground Ka'ū. Was pretty hard to get short of flying to Hawaii in person up until recently. If you're ever on the Big Island I highly suggest taking a trip to one of the plantations in that region and having a taste. A bit pricey but absolutely worth it.

Tasteless anon here.
There is hope for you anon. I used to work in Costa and can safely say their coffee is WAY too dark, bitter as fuck.
Try some specialty coffee places, local coffee shops might not always hold a massive standard for their coffee.
Try a flat white from a specialty coffee shop, first without milk and sugar because it's a not a bitter drink to begin with.
Another thing you could try is Americano but ask them to spoon off the creama. It looks less appealing but does taste quite nice.
Just try to avoid dark roasts as much as possible in the beginning. It's a meme. Burn doesn't equal flavour. That isn't to say all dark is shit, just most of it is.
Opt for lighter/medium roasts. Flavours aren't as heavy and can let you pick up more of what's going on in your cup. I'm still a tasteless pleb in this regard but I'm actively trying to improve my pallet.

So I just brewed my first coffee using a Moka Pot. I tasted what was supposed to be the coffee initially but it was followed by an irony burnt taste.
I basically put water up to below the valve, fine ground, put it on the stove and boiled at medium heat. Did I fuck this up?

Immersion is objectively an inferior brew method and french press adds insult to injury by allowing the beans to remain partly immersed between pressing and serving. Also nobody does it “correctly” in the first place, it requires an espresso-tier grinder but calibrated especially for the worst brew method of all time, and your taste a shit.

The only acceptable immersion style is aeropress because it stops when it stops instead of half assing it

I get what you're saying but no, anon. The whole point of fresh ground coffee is that it is in its most volatile state, meaning the aromatic compounds are active. There's a such thing as decent instant for sure but it will probably not taste as great as fresh unless some new technology is created

If you have a local coffee shop that sells and grinds beans, you could always buy beans and bring them there. Ask if you buy a latte can they grind your coffee. If you do it with a smile they'll usually oblige. But don't use a fine grind.

Invest in a hand grinder. Grinding your own coffee is comfy as fuck.

I tamp mine slightly by using the flat bottom of a large plastic measuring spoon. I used to tamp excessively, and my coffee came out shit. I didn't realize what I was doing until I read about it somewhere. Doing so will also kill your pot.

Not tamping at all is probably the best choice, though. Just brush off the excess with your finger. Some people don't bother and just leave the excess mound of grounds and screw the collection chamber over it.
