Anybody browsing know this feel?

>sister is terrible with money
>goes to some chain and orders an appetizer, entree, couple cocktails, leaves a meme tip
>stops at a bar and gets a few more cocktails
>posts some shitty pictures on instagram
>$100 in 3-4 hours

>me
>buys a 1.75L jug of evan williams whiskey for less than $30
>goes to kroger and gets a package of breakfast pork chops ($5), a bag of potatoes and onion ($10), and a couple cans of vegetables ($5) -- $20 total
>buys like 5+ mass-market paperback books while i'm there -- $20 @ $4/book
>top off gas tank and stay home all weekend -- $15
>rents AND buys a movie & game on sale (steam, amazon, etc.) -- $15
>spend all weekend playing vidja, reading, eating fried porkchops and potatoes with vegetables, nursing a jug of whiskey, watch a movie several times within the 48 hour time lease period
>$100 lasts 3 days

Pic related is a stupid meme, but there's a kernel of truth to it.

If I had a sister we'd either have kids by now or my family wouldn't be speaking to me.

The most important thing is that you learn to cook. Learning to cook saves lots of money.

Poor people are usually poor because they make bad decisions with money. Giving them money solves the problem for a few days then they're right back where they started. My sister is the same way. Divorced, 2 kids, works part time and is broke all the time. Still has money for energy drinks and cigarettes though.

That's how I feel as well with my sister who prefers fast over cooking. Claims to not like to take the time to prep and clean. Which makes me wonder if she actually likes the taste of fast food or the convenience of it? Either way I gave up on fast food since it's kind of a waste of money. Cocktails/alcohol as well feels like a waste. Would rather go to a nice liquor store with a selection and drink that way instead.

I'm not rich, but a lot of the poor people at my work make enough money to not be poor. They just piss their money away on random shit. One dude got kicked out of his rent house for being behind on payments but he'd just dropped 5Gs on a vacation prior to getting kicked out. Another dude complained about all his bills and not having any cash then turned around and bought a brand new Harley to drive back and forth to work on.

There's not much helping people like this.

Boneless chicken tits are $1.99/lb here.
I don't buy skim, but whole is $3.49/gal.
I don't but 96% lean ground beef, but 80% is $1.99/lb (it's even cheaper the last week of June because Independence Day).
I don't buy fat free yogurt, but whole fat is $2.99/quart.
I don't buy oats in such a small quantity, but a 42oz canister is $2.29.
Kidney beans are $1.49/2lbs in my area.
Potato, corn, peaches and frozen peas are priced accurately for around here.

Total cost for me to buy something like that shopping list: $24.24. There's no tax on groceries here.

The KFC 8 piece meal would cost $23.75, tax included.

However! I'm not against going out to eat/drink/etc from time to time. I went out today after work, for example. Yes, I know that I could have gotten the same beers at the store and paid far less than the $30 I paid for the two I had plus the plate of pickles I had with them plus the tax and the tip, but if $30 or even $100 would break the bank for you, either grow up and finish uni so you can get yourself a big boy job or ask yourself what poor life choices lead you to think of $100 as a lot of money.

Really, though, I need to get a thriftier group of friends who wouldn't mind rotating drinks/meals at each others' places rather than always going to the bars. I've aged into curmudgeon status ahead of the rest of the group, so I don't really like going to bars anymore. They're too loud for my old, curmudgeon-y ass. I would rather have a relaxing time with mis amigos at home than pay for the privilege of straining to hear at the bar.
