As I was going around the supermarket I went looking for exotic spices and found saffron. Shit is expensive (live in los angeles) for a couple of strands. So I'm deciding to grow it instead. Anyone know of any good site for buying seeds? Thinking of getting lavender as well.

Saffron is expensive because it's the stigma of a plant that only produces 1-2 flowers per season, and each flower only has three of them.
Just grow perennial spices like sage, rosemary, and thyme. They can even be pruned into fairly attractive bushes.
