In Northwest Indiana we have this place, Miner Dunn. It used to be a chain but now there is just the one in Highland. It's not technically fast-food, because it's a sit-down diner type of place (think Denny's, but a million times better). But its menu is mostly burgers and fries, and the prices aren't much more than your average fast-food burger chain, so I think it qualifies.

There is nothing fancy, gimmicky, or over-the-top about it. It's just damned good burgers, hand-cut fries, homemade vegetable soup and god-tier chili made from scratch each day, homemade pies .... and orange sherbet for some goddamned reason.

Get the cheese supreme on rye or sourdough if you're ever there.

Then there's Miner Dunn's main competitor, Schoop's. Schoop's definitely won the local burger war since there are at least a couple dozen now all over NWI and the South Suburbs, whereas Miner Dunn is down to one. But in my opinion, Miner Dunn is still way better. Schoop's patties are too thin, and everything is overpriced. And they take the minimalist menu approach to an absurd extreme in my opinion.

Oh my fucking shit....I LOVE Taco Casa. I miss that place so much (moved across the country for work). There's a place here called Taco Tree (very local, only has two locations) that is very similar, but just not quite the same. Every time I go back to visit family, I have to stop at Taco Casa at least once. I always used to get either the Super Nachos, or a couple of Super Tacos and an Enchilada (or whatever they call it), and their fucking delicious sweet tea.

I haven't been to the place im years, but I remember getting a tasty burger that was greasy as hell and had a shitton of onions on it. The milkshakes were pretty good too.
