Barbecue is great. Not drowned in sauce like other places. Much more focus on smoking the meat and dry rub instead of grilling or boiling. Get some smoked brisket and ribs and you'll see why Houston BBQ is god tier

Its a mix of amazing authentic food from asia, the middle east, Latin America, and Europe and posh hipster instagram restaurants that are horrifically overated.

Also,

90% of steakhouses are horseshit
Very few options for southern or northeastern/newengland food
Everything casual is becoming a fusion of retarded cuisine cultures (japanese and mexican? they are practically the same lol)

Also, with the exception of higher end japanese joints, the seafood in LA is quite unremarkable and disappointing.

Toronto is overpriced and everything feels like a fad. All the major destination eateries are owned by hospitality companies, and Mom & Pop places open and close constantly due to the price of real estate.

There are actually quite a few very good places but a lot of the shitty ones stay in business and have mislead me. Seriously, certain parts of the california desert are so strange. Everyones so fucking lazy and complacent and probably stoned out of their mind. The drifters legit terrify me they have taken on a sort of zombie appearance. Wrong. Kansas City doesn't use dry rubs, they use BBQ sauce. Memphis, TN, is most famous for dry rubs. You need to bone up on American BBQ before spouting off.

I live in a coastal town in England with great fishing waters, so we have some of the best fish and seafood in the country. You can go to even the worst fish and chip shop here and it'll be miles better than anything more inland. Aside from that, not much. We have a god-tier curry house though.
