Instead, OP assumed and thought "if I choose cream, the staff will surely know what I mean and not actually put cream", which is flawed reasoning.

Based and correct. It's not exactly Uber where I live, just home delivery and I've used it literally once. I ordered from a restaurant that doesn't charge extra for home delivery because it would have been expensive as fuck otherwise. I found the website timeconsuming to navigate and I prefer to just call the local sweaty pizzaturk then go pick that shit up across the street. Add to it the Redbull debacle and I think I'll stick to the old way. Not that that's foolproof either. Recently the pizza apes literally couldn't speak my language at all so I had to talk to their boss over the phone to place my order, but they still couldn't fucking understand so he had to come down. I was so befuddled by the end I just stuck around and ordered from him when I actually should have told everyone to fuck off. Beta, I know.
Not even the one much touted benefit of DIVERSITY works out.

yeah, well enjoy paying property taxes, and insurance, and anything that goes wrong, you have to fix it, which is more money out of your pocket. When you rent, you pay only one monthly cost and you get a servant to fix everything for you and it costs you nothing, and you can pick up and move to a new place at any time.

>owning a car

again, the fucking insurance will cost you 2000 dollars a year, and those things have repair costs too, which are always jacked up because mechanics typically charge an idiot tax. then there's gas. I just walk to work, I don't own a car.

This means, that I have huge amounts of disposable income and I can have people bring me food whenever I want. I barely have to work, too, since my expenses are so low. I have a job that doesn't even care if I show up, like if I appear for the day, they pay me, but if I don't, I won't get fired. The world has changed, and if you can't adapt to the current circumstances, you'll end up wasting all your money on a stupid house and stupid car because you're stupid.

Depends on whether or not you're paying mortgage interest. Most of the time people end up spending about 3x what the home is actually "worth" when you factor in the average mortgage.

>>12227403
>The costs significantly outweigh the benefits as far as investments go
That depends on a huge number of variables, the main one being location, but also what you are or are not capable of doing yourself. There's a big difference between someone who has the skills to fix something up vs. someone who is paying through the nose for contractors. Asserting that all home/property ownership is a poor value is just as absurd as claiming that all stocks are equally wise picks.

hey stupid, who do you think is paying the property taxes, and insurance on the place you live right now?? the landlord??? top fucking kek cuckboy. yeah he pays it but who gives him the money to pay it?????? think hard now
here's how stupid you are: my mortgage on my first house was $750. $350 went to principal $300 to escrow. to simplify for cucks, my "rent" is $350, $300 goes to property taxes, school taxes and home insurance all rolled into one neat little payment. the going rate for rent for that house is $1500/month, which means my tenant pays all the mortgage, all the insurance, and half of my current mortgage, and doesnt have a fucking thing to show for it except the smug satisfaction of knowing that if something breaks i have to fix it.
if you werent such a fucking cuckfuck you could easily fix a leaky pipe, a floor tile, a broken thermocouple, or anything else that goes wrong in your house. if i cant fix something then i have friends to help or i ask a cuckrepairman to fix it.
either way keep doing what youre doing, you dont deserve to have anything nice and you deserve to have your money taken from you by people who are better at life than you are.

Are people comparing houses to apartments here?
If we compare apples to apples, owning a house ought to be cheaper than renting one because the taxes, insurance, maintenance and utilities will still cost the landlord if you're renting a house. Plus the landlord will charge for the administrative work aswell as a profit. Then potentially you have sales tax when selling/buying complicating the whole thing. Ultimately who gives a shit, it's an entirely theoretical argument because you're not going to find many houses for rent. Also, apartmentdwellers are insectoid bugsouled scum we need to eradicate.

This is correct. Buying a house just to feel like you're not wasting money or met some imaginary milestone for success in your life is completely retarded. There is no end to the horror stories you can look up about people fucking themselves over this way.
RE: "You can just move if you have a problem," Yeah, except you have to go through an appraisal process and all that money you spent could be wiped out if they find some structural problem that costs a fortune to resolve. You don't necessarily have any clue when this is the case until they do this inspection. Even before you try to sell if you DO notice a problem like mold it could set you back tens of thousands of dollars on renovation which you might be obligated to pay for either for health reasons or because your HOA will come after you.
The major advantage to renting is you aren't on the hook for shit. You have a ridiculously small one-time deposit which almost everyone gets back after leaving (you have to seriously fuck up an apartment before most landlords will bother hassling you over a security deposit). People can and do completely ruin the apartments they stay in and still get to leave and go live somewhere else with zero consequences. And while the costs of maintaining the overall complex are represented in some way with your rent payments, those are costs spread out across everyone else who lives there, and you benefit from most people not costing much of anything to support, whereas if you're directly on the hook for a house you own you're taking on full responsibility for everything directly.
If you're a typical 4chan autist who can barely take care of basic needs like food and hygiene then the last thing you want to do is take on the responsibilities associated with owning a house. Normalfags vasatly underestimate just how not good at handling these responsibilities an autist would be. And even normalfags themselves get fucked over by unexpected expenses stemming from home ownership.

I didn't reply but I'll also say it definitely could be real. I've seen things like this a number of times on Uber Eats. Here are a couple examples:
1) Firehouse Subs for whatever retarded reason added a category on their menu titled "water or soda." You can pull up that category and then select what you actually want e.g. Coca-Cola, but when you do this it gets printed out for the wagies working there as:
>Water or Soda - Coca-Cola
Which they end up interpreting as you telling them to randomly decide between giving you a water or a Coke. I got a water back a couple times even when trying to switch to a different Firehouse Subs location. Fortunately I later discovered Jersey Mike's and realized they're much better anyway and haven't ordered a thing from Firehouse since.
2) Some random French restaurant with decent breakfast food local to my city changed their settings so that the omelet with ham which is listed as coming with potatoes by default now forces you to select a side of either hash browns or fruit. And either one you pick gets interpreted by that restaurant's wagies as you asking for that (has browns or fruit) IN PLACE OF the potatoes you used to get and enjoy and actually wanted.
So yes, if the person setting these accounts up doesn't realize how their staff are going to interpret the results, they can and will set up bad options you can't get around that will force you to communicate something confusing to them instead of what you actually want. You could try adding a free text note too but that'll only confuse them more if they see it at all.

No, you're just a shortsighted imbecile who doesn't understand what consequences are. My boomer parents just retired last year and got hit with massive renovation charges (something involving the piping underground needing to all be taken out and replaced) when they tried to sell their house. They're fortunately well off enough that they could handle it, but if you're not a high paid senior partner at an actuarial firm you'd just be fucked. These aren't imaginary concerns. You probably have a better chance dealing with a situation like this than not given enough time as a home owner. Most people aren't Bob Vila and don't know how to keep a house in mint condition and do all the repairs themselves, not that you can ever 100% guarantee you'll catch everything regardless.

Groceries aren't the same as restaurant food unless you're willing to also stock your home with a slew of industrial cooking appliances and all the different ingredients that go into the foods you would get at the restaurant along with knowing how to take those ingredients and make the end product and being willing to set aside the time and work up the effort to act on that knowledge on a regular basis. And then you would need to either commit to always eating something that uses all those ingredients or else letting them go bad when you get lazy or bored and do something else for your future meals.
Knowing myself, I don't try to put myself in that position anymore since every time I've even done a much smaller scale version of this where the food you make is nothing like restaurant food I inevitably end up getting tired of keeping up with it after two or three meals and am then left with a couple bucks in savings in exchange for a bunch of rotting unused ingredients in my fridge.

Not that you're thinking of the same thing (you're clearly imagining cooking for the foods you cook rather than cooking to reproduce the menu of an actual restaurant), but that aside I didn't say it wasn't simple. The problem is you end up with lots of ingredients stored at home that you'll probably end up not using after two or three times of making meals yourself. I told you I've already done this in the past and it always ends the same way. Easy once or twice? Sure. Something I'm going to care to keep up with every fucking day for the rest of my life? Absolutely not.

And that's a red flag for how abysmal your cooking skills are.

Blenders are fucking great: make dressings and purees, dough, dips, sauces, salsa, marinades, frozen drinks, nut butters, crush spices, even make your own flour. The better ones like Vitamix or Blendtec even do a passable job grinding meat, so long as you do small batches. Blenders are a kitchen essential.

You're completely discounting time and effort as factors. I suspect because you actually enjoy cooking. A lot of people don't enjoy it, and when you don't enjoy something completely optional with a relatively high level of time and effort required then you're very likely to not keep up with it. Simple concept, and like I've said already, it's what actually happens when I've tried it in the past. Skill / knowledge / planning are all important too, but having all those things isn't going to give you the time and effort parts of the equation, especially when you stop treating this as a one-time situation and start recognizing it would be an over and over and over and over and over again situation which only gets even more annoying to keep up with each subsequent iteration.

take this example since you're too fucking stupid to stop and goddamn think for even an iota of a second

the local top tier burger restaurant I could get absolutely top quality food for $20-30, they use all the same "best" ingredients that I could go get and they prepare them expertly

if I want to mimic their burgers, I need a meat grinder and a patty press at a minimum, but that's not even the real issue, the real issue is I have to go not only spend $40 on meat, spend an hour prepping and grinding it, then longer cooking it but then I only get one meal's worth of actually top quality burger, the rest I have to freeze in increments and it gets worse over time so not only is what I paid in effectively more expensive for less, but my time in prepping it is more expensive for a worse end product

you've also failed to take the single most important thing into account you stupid fuck, which is TIME, it takes large amounts of TIME to cook things correctly, and you will lose every time if you're spending your few hours after work trying to make top quality food vs. a group of people that literally do it fulltime, and if you CAN do that you are going to shitty restaurants to begin with

sure, most equipment is a one time investment, but restaurants run on razor thin margins, if I get top quality chicken to cook myself it's already $10/lb w/ no other ingredients and I have to spend an hour prepping and cooking it, this gets even worse with things that need to be slow cooked or babied, am I going to spend 4+ hours after work babying it only to eat right before bed? no, fucking of course not

Anyone else here feels like running over Uber eats delivery people when you see them on the road? The a bloody everywhere, get in the way when you actually go to the restaurant... I don't know I just hate them and want them to fuck off.

>are you bragging about being able to make better food than a denny's?
No, I'm saying people should at least be able to cook shit like fetuccine alfredo or fried rice in their house at a quality level. Can you?

>the local top tier burger restaurant I could get absolutely top quality food for $20-30, they use all the same "best" ingredients that I could go get and they prepare them expertly
>I have to go not only spend $40
You have to be joking. A burger does not cost $30 to make and burger meat does not cost $40. I can almost guarantee your "local top tier burger restaurant" is using 80/20 ground beef from the grocery store. Maybe they go to a butcher and get 80/20 ground beef from a specific part of the cow, but this is what's going on at the end of the day. 100% guaranteed.

>I need a meat grinder and a patty press at a minimum
>spend an hour prepping and grinding it, then longer cooking it
You're so fucking incompetent. Why on Earth do you think you would need a fucking patty press of all things to make burgers, you goddamn mongoloid?

>restaurants run on razor thin margins
You have no idea how the industry works. I suppose this explains why you think restaurants are superior in every way to home cooking.

>if I get top quality chicken to cook myself it's already $10/lb w/ no other ingredients and I have to spend an hour prepping and cooking it, this gets even worse with things that need to be slow cooked or babied
Paying $10/lb for some fucking chicken, holy shit. What's worse, you spend an entire fucking hour cooking chicken?? What's wrong with you? Are you brain damaged?

>am I going to spend 4+ hours after work babying it only to eat right before bed? no, fucking of course not
Of course you aren't. Instead of learning how to pan fry a chicken breast, you're going to heat up your McDonald's leftovers and write stupid posts on /ck/.

I can't believe I spent any amount of time replying to this post. Fuck you and I hope this was bait.

You know perfectly well nobody else has done that. That's such a retarded reverse engineered expectation. People in the US mention hobgoblins about as rarely as they mention hobs. As someone in his 30s who's always rented, I can tell you moving is easy as fuck. It'd only be a hassle if you own a bunch of useless junk, which there's less reason than ever to do nowadays with all entertainment media being free and acessible through tiny little laptop computers. And if you're not a woman you only need a few changes of clothes. I pity anyone who lets their belongings get so out of hand they can't enjoy quick and easy mobility on the fly. You don't need more than a couple suitcases, and if you ever want to leave an apartment while still having time left with your lease all that happens is they charge you an incredibly small one-time fee before letting you completely off the hook, in contrast with house owners who are absolutely fucked beyond repair if mold or other structural problems come up during appraisal. Apartment liability you're looking at a few hundred dollars maybe. House liability easily goes into tens of thousands of dollars for just one specific issue.
