Thoughts on food delivery apps?

>> No.12219709

>>12219703
As a food service worker, theyre pretty nice because orders that come in from them are like the easiest to handle, and the food service places that utilize them make a handy profit.

>> No.12219717

Doordash is decent if you're ordering for 2 people once or twice a week. The free delivery for orders over $15 at most places makes it not terrible, again assuming you're ordering for 2 people at least once a week.

Every order I've ever put through with any food delivery service has been fucked up. They always fuck it up.
And I know it's not the food delivery service itself's fault, but some sort of invisible switch seems to flip in a fast food place's head that internet orders are some intangible thing they don't need to give a fuck about.

Don't bother with them anymore.

>>12219755
that's weird, around here it's the only way I can get my fast food made correctly.

I go to the drive through and the order is fucked up every time, I order online delivery and the shit is fucking perfect.

I hate the companies behind these apps but I like being a delivery boy. I don't know if I should feel bad but I really like delivering McChickens to people. I make it a game to get to them as quick as I can on my bike and make them happy. People tip well but that's just a bonus to me.

I've used these guys a few times. Food's always about 2 hours late though if it comes at all.

Go to bed Doordash Shill.

Food service workers hate this bullshit. Profits at a restaueant are usually 1/3 of ticket price. Doordash takes a 15 percent cut, so profit is literally half or less.

Restaurants often get hit with huge volume increases due to these apps, and do not increase workforce or workspace accordingly.

On top of that, any tips which would normally go to in house employees are given to drivers instead.

Its shit.

Also, words cannot express how maddening it is dealing with robot voices while trying to fix a problem.

fast food places don't accept tips and that's what 90% of these orders are anyway

So do you actively hate the environment, or do you just not care? Look at this shit. Not to mention you're paying extra for it.

The fee comes out to about what I would tip if I went out to eat. But you get food that is not quite as fresh and sometimes just piled into a container instead of prepared on a plate. It’s a nice option to have but I don’t use it a ton

>90%

I cant speak to that. At least one restaurant I worked at, it caused serious problems for workers. The kitchen had to deal with a 30%-50% increase in volume Fri and Sat nights, and the owners refused to add another line cook. We had five servers and one server had to spend the whole night putting the bags together. So 4 servers worked the floor. All five of us go6 the 2.15 hourly wage and we pulled tips. It was extremely unfair and probably illegal, but what the fuck could we do about it? It was fucked.

I personally think they not worth the money. I'd rather walk.

Welcome to the future boomerslaves. You don’t need 5 staff standing around picking your asses and refilling drinks. I’d rather sit at home enjoying myself and watching kino than smelling your filth and hearing about the latest sportsball game

I deliver with these apps and people literally order from places that are block away from them. With the app fees+tip it often costs more than the actual food. They're either incredibly lazy or have money to throw around. I guess I can't complain about getting paid for so little effort but it disgusts me somewhat.

Trust me, wealthy people aren't having fast food delivered to their house. It's usually young adults who are terrible with money and think that using an overpriced delivery service on top of overpriced fast food is a good idea.

Enjoy your 2 hour old food zoomer. Keep telling yourself you pay 50% extra for "convenience" and not bevause talking to humans on the phone or in person makes you anxious.

I'm of the opinion if you can't make the effort to get food then you should suffer in many ways.

>> No.12220148

I put extremely easy, specific delivery instructions on my orders (call me on the callbox, I'll buzz you in, leave it on the table next to my door), but these delivery idiots never fucking read it. If you contact me for any reason I won't tip.

Yes they are. The disposable income of a truly wealthy person is more than you conceive, and they still have plenty left over for investment. They don't feel the expenditure.

>> No.12220191

It's very convenient but I've mostly stopped because it's not worth it compared with cooking. I try to always have cheat food in the freezer. This ends up saves time and money compared with ordering food, and means I can always stay at least close to my calorie plan for the day.

>>12219755
For seamless at least, it depends on the restaurant, and drivers also work for specific restaurants. So if a restaurant fucks up the order, I just don't buy from them again.

I don't really follow. If you're not paying a delivery driver for that order, doesn't that make up the 15 percent cut? And if you're using both an in house driver and a service like these - why?

I drove for Uber for a bit, including uber eats. That sentiment does not apply to most of the people I delivered to that wanted food a couple blocks away.
