Knowing how to configure the temps and set the timer and such on an oven takes a far different skill set than dealing with the bs of a convection oven.

I had one of the original actifrys that is like 8 years old (still do.) But the fan is getting pretty noisy and I got one of the fancier new ones during a sale to give it a try. Depending on what you are making the new one is far more useful. The fact you can up temp to 350-375 and have a big square of space make it much more useable in general. The only real downside is needing to toss occasionally, but it beats having the agitator destroy stuff.

The one thing I can think I will still use the actifry for is for "stirairfried" stuff. Doing chicken, loose chorizo balls and bits of potato for taco filling for example. The actifry auto stirs it all and lets the potato absorb up the oil, while the drain try in the newer models won't. Plus the auto mixing is useful here.

My mom got one but so far all we made in there just tasted like made in the oven and the fries she tried just basically were very soft frie shaped potatoes, what are some kick ass recipes for this device and HOW to make perfect fries

Doesn't even have to be junk food. One of the main points is making thins healthier.

I have cut brussel sprouts in half, tossed them in a bit of avocado oil and garlic salt and pepper. Come out nice and crispy outside and soft inside and only take 10-15 minutes instead of 30-40 in an oven.
